ACC Relocation Impact

Has anyone relocated their ACC sensor? I had the bumper off painting the tow hooks and was concerned about how it sits right in front of the intercooler. There has to be a measurable impact to outlet temperatures. I am considering moving it with a relocation kit. What kit did you use? Any unintended consequences to your ACC?

P.S. I’m going with a Conb intercooler but assume the same thermodynamics and fluid flow apply with the ACC current location.

I am looking forward to how member fluid dynamics, materials conductance, wavelength variance calculus, medium reflective angular return, and other analysis will stack up to the Ford engineers who already did the analytics on this.

I’m looking forward to the data too. Ford engineers undoubtedly analyzed the complete vehicle, but that doesn’t mean every component was positioned solely to maximize intercooler efficiency. Packaging, radar field of view, crash protection, cost, serviceability, and manufacturing constraints all factor into the final location.


The ACC module clearly obstructs and disturbs airflow across a portion of the intercooler face. The unanswered question is whether that produces a measurable difference in charge-air temperatures under real-world conditions—not whether Ford employed competent engineers.


If you have Ford’s airflow analysis, pressure-drop data, or before-and-after temperature logs, I’d genuinely like to see them. Otherwise, that’s exactly why I’m asking whether anyone has relocated it and collected data or experienced ACC issues afterward.
