I have an interesting situation- I was a September ’21 reservation holder. Put in all sorts of builds on the build and price but never pulled the trigger. I finally decided to take the dive when the Everglades was introduced. So I went to my local dealership in February to look into placing an order. I was an unconverted reservation holder so everything I was reading from Ford seemed to indicate that I could try for the Everglades. My dealership did not seem to know much about the process at that point but I trusted them to figure it out and I put down a deposit and have a signed document with the MRSP and the specs from the Build and Price.
A couple days later, the salesperson called and told me that they needed to convert me to an order on a different model Bronco as a placeholder until the ordering for the Everglades opened the next week. This didn’t quite sound like the process that I had understood but at that point I wasn’t going to argue. So my salesperson submitted a build for a 4-door Badlands with Lux package in Oxford White. Two weeks later, salesperson calls me to confirm that they switched the order over to the Everglades and sends me a signed copy of the Dealer Order Preview and MSRP. All good.
At this point, I understand that since I wanted Desert Sand, I am going to have to wait until the end of summer.
At the beginning of August, I receive an email from Ford telling me that my 2022 Badlands has been scheduled for production. I had been checking the backdoor link since joining the forum in April and everything there had always had the correct specs and order for the Everglades. I reached out to my salesperson and all he said was that it was weird and that every aspect of ordering a Bronco had been weird but that I still popped up in their system with the same correct Everglades info that I had been seeing.
Two weeks later, I got an email from Ford saying that my Everglades was scheduled for production (its been bumped twice so far- now 9/15 but no window sticker yet).
Last week, my salesperson calls to tell me that they are expecting delivery of the Badlands this weekend or early next week. The typical- once its gets in we will clean it up for you and you can come in and sign the paperwork- type message on my voicemail. No mention of the Everglades- I think he forgot.
What should I do? With my production date for the Everglades getting pushed back, is it worth buying the Badlands then trading it in when the Everglades comes in theoretically in a 4-6 weeks? The trade in value has to be well over sticker (MSRP- 55k and KBB- 71). The dealership does not have any Broncos in stock at this point. Or should I just not take delivery of the Badlands?- I feel like this just gives the ADM right to the dealership…. It also seems like a decent amount of work to buy it and then flip it to Carvana or Carmax...
