I have an interesting situation- I was a September ’21 reservation holder. Put in all sorts of builds on the build and price but never pulled the trigger. I finally decided to take the dive when the Everglades was introduced. So I went to my local dealership in February to look into placing an order. I was an unconverted reservation holder so everything I was reading from Ford seemed to indicate that I could try for the Everglades. My dealership did not seem to know much about the process at that point but I trusted them to figure it out and I put down a deposit and have a signed document with the MRSP and the specs from the Build and Price.

A couple days later, the salesperson called and told me that they needed to convert me to an order on a different model Bronco as a placeholder until the ordering for the Everglades opened the next week. This didn’t quite sound like the process that I had understood but at that point I wasn’t going to argue. So my salesperson submitted a build for a 4-door Badlands with Lux package in Oxford White. Two weeks later, salesperson calls me to confirm that they switched the order over to the Everglades and sends me a signed copy of the Dealer Order Preview and MSRP. All good.

At this point, I understand that since I wanted Desert Sand, I am going to have to wait until the end of summer.

At the beginning of August, I receive an email from Ford telling me that my 2022 Badlands has been scheduled for production. I had been checking the backdoor link since joining the forum in April and everything there had always had the correct specs and order for the Everglades. I reached out to my salesperson and all he said was that it was weird and that every aspect of ordering a Bronco had been weird but that I still popped up in their system with the same correct Everglades info that I had been seeing.

Two weeks later, I got an email from Ford saying that my Everglades was scheduled for production (its been bumped twice so far- now 9/15 but no window sticker yet).

Last week, my salesperson calls to tell me that they are expecting delivery of the Badlands this weekend or early next week. The typical- once its gets in we will clean it up for you and you can come in and sign the paperwork- type message on my voicemail. No mention of the Everglades- I think he forgot.

What should I do? With my production date for the Everglades getting pushed back, is it worth buying the Badlands then trading it in when the Everglades comes in theoretically in a 4-6 weeks? The trade in value has to be well over sticker (MSRP- 55k and KBB- 71). The dealership does not have any Broncos in stock at this point. Or should I just not take delivery of the Badlands?- I feel like this just gives the ADM right to the dealership…. It also seems like a decent amount of work to buy it and then flip it to Carvana or Carmax...

I'd buy the BL and flip it when you get the Everglades.

With the speed of bureaucracy in New York, I wouldn’t have the title in 4-6 weeks to be able to flip the vehicle! 😆
Odds are, the selling dealer wouldn’t give “over sticker” for the trade...they’ll want to maximize their ADM. Buy them both and flip the badlands.

I wish I had that kind of cash laying around!!

I was wondering if the dealership would offer an incentive for the Everglades if I agreed not to take delivery of the Badlands…

That is so cute that you think the dealer would do that. LOL.

Sorry... couldn't resist.

I got my 21 BD 4 door w Sas back in December, my velocity blue base 2 w a 7 speed stick came yesterday and I love it!! It reminds me of a barn-find Bronco, simple and minimal and it’s a blast to drive. I’m either going to have my kid learn to drive with (every kid should learn on a manual imho) or just let it age gracefully w minimal use.

Some dealerships work deals. We had a Bronco that a dealer used my wife’s name to order. They refused to sell at MSRP to the next buyer. We financed it and sold it to our dealership and split the profit.
