Looking for suggestions on replacing the 6.5" Kick panel speakers. I'm looking for a little more base, but don't want to add an amp.

Everything I’ve read from others indicates that upgrading that particular speaker may give you a bit more clarity but not much of a bass increase. Fact is, you’ll probably need to add at least one of those 8” under seat powered subs to give you what you are looking for

Their is more than enough highs coming from dash so a good pro audio mid bass speaker worked great in mine. Get the proper Metra adapter plate and 6.5 and it will make a big difference. You will have to trim the back side of the speaker grill a bit. Chisel worked great for me.

Which mid bass speaker did you get?

Most people have found upgrading those without an amp has made it worse. For the price of a decent set of speakers down there you could spend a little more and amp the factory ones for a significant improvement in bass. I was pleasantly surprised the difference that made. Keep in mind we are still talking about 6.5” speakers with a specific frequency range. You aren’t gonna hit the lows with those. As someone else mentioned an all in one 8” unit would be the easiest course of action to add some lower end bass.

yeah, this.

Without an amp - not sure anything will really do what you want. That kick panel spot is just awful for acoustics - you just don't have much area for a speaker to work with behind there, and what space exists is full of open spots and holes and is open all the way up through the A-pilllar.

If you take the time to seal it all up (and that is not as easy as just rolling out some Dynamat), and you throw a lot of power at it and a good speaker and you have a DSP to make sure you get it tuned with the rest of the system - then you can get great sound from the kick panels.

But without doing all of those things - you might improve things a bit with a better speaker and an amp, but the juice isn't worth the squeeze in my opinion.

I have some Infinities in mine run from a 50W amp - and I won't lie, they do sound better than stock. But for all the audio stuff I've done to my system, this is absolutely the least impactful spot to upgrade, and I only did it because I had already upgraded everything else.

The best way to add more base is to upgrade the subwoofer and add an amp, by far. Just upgrading the kick panel speaker without anything else... you will probably be disappointed.

The Bi-amp setup that @AZCoyote talks about here is probably the best way to do this.
