I'm looking for a nice 4-pin socket (like with a flap) that can attach to the OEM trailer hitch.

Having trouble finding one that seems like it would fit. There seems to be 7-pins everywhere but no 4-pins. Any suggestions?

Has anyone succeeded at this, or are people just leaving their cable dangling?

Kind of, but hoping for a solid 4-pin cover/socket that fits in the OEM spot. I just found a little bracket that may work, but curious what others have done.

I feel like someone else out there has to have added the 4-pin aftermarket and added a nice cover instead of left it dangling.

If you have LED tail lights, then this is what I bought. It is by Curt. To find one that mounts to your stock hitch good luck on that. The kit comes with the mount bracket for the female connector. You may be able to mount it to your existing hitch. Just use your imagination. E-trailer.com has great customer service and ship fast. If you have non-LED tail lights, you will have to get a different harness, they also sell that one too.

I bought a aftermarket hitch for this very reason, it had the four pin mount incorporated with the hitch plate.

I think I can make this work and it looks better than the rubber boot!
Yeah, I just search Amazon and found this. I had bought the $1.5 one from curt that just hold the plug without a cover, I like this one better.

@Grumpy, where did you find that bracket, the one that seems to be in the Amazon listing looks smaller and doesn't seem to fit as well as yours?

I did not use the bracket from the pigtail kit. I used the bracket that is part of the hitch itself. The pigtail just snapped in place.

Ahh, I see, your hitch had a different bracket than the one I got from Ford. That explains it, thanks! BTW, do you have a link or model number to the hitch you got, maybe I can find just the bracket?

@hakanl

The opening is the same rectangular size of the 4 pin pigtail, the 2 nubs at top of bracket opening is the area that secures the pigtail in place once it snaps in place. If that makes sense.
