Less technology in so many things would be a relief. Drives me crazy how appliances are overly reliant on technology. Control panels fail all the time. Give me reliable appliances without the computer bs and I’m happy.
Same thing when it comes to vehicles. Fewer complex systems (within reason; I get there is some necessary technology in vehicles today) means fewer components to potentially fail. Part of my position comes from being involved in fixing modern vehicles, so there is my bias. I could ramble on for a long time on this topic but I won’t.
Good points.. brb, changing my order to a Base. God knows that would help it get here quicker anyways!

Made a pit stop to Beach Ford, Virginia Beach, VA today to firm up my numbers for my WildTrak Squatch confirmed some unsurprising news...Status as follows: Primary, In Production; Secondary Delay-Plant Hold; Vehicle Location, MAP MI; (ETA: Status date/time, May 16 2022; Start Date, June 12 2022; End Date, June 18 2022; ETA Disposition: Micro Chip At Plant On Hold......I'm hoping I'll get it in time for some runs on the beaches of VA/NC. On a positive note, Dealership honoring all of the original pricing, ie no ADM etc.

I pressed and pressed and pressed the agent today, trying to find out if there’s someone else I can talk to to understand why the date keeps getting pushed. She literally said she doesn’t know who I could talk to.

I suggested that I could talk to her supervisor, or someone at production, or someone at final quality checks, or someone at shipping, and she does not have any information about who I would talk to in any of those places.

The best she could suggest was taking to the GM of the dealership to see if he could access any of those channels.

Have any of you tried this?

It just seems odd to me that there’s no one who can tell us if this new 6/18 date is yet another made-up date, or if it’s actually some meaningful statement about their intent to get the problem(s) fixed.

Someone somewhere is making these decisions.

And I wouldn’t mind 6/18 if I knew it were final. I wouldn’t even mind 7/18 if I knew it were final. But it seems inevitable that around 6/15-6/18, we will get bumped by another 2-3 weeks yet again. And then perhaps again, and again and again still.

Manufacturers know a lot of people would rather have that, but they make (or plan to make) more money off of everything being connected.

From cars to TVs to washing machines, they figure they'll benefit more either through selling/using your data or boxing you into subscriptions to keep functionality.

A few more interesting things happened with my order today. Been built since April 25th. 32 days in convoy delay so far. Yesterday, my bronco showed up on my dealerships website saying "In Stock". I called to asked if it has arrived and they said Not Yet. The sales manager said it's and automated system, but usually only happens after the driver says they have dropped it off at the dealership.

He then mention that sometimes drivers will say the dropped the vehicles early, so that they will be able to pickup and work through the weekend. There is another local dealership that had 2 broncos show up on their website yesterday.

I'm guessing (and hoping) they have been loaded or will be loaded and deliver this weekend. He said he has a call into the regional convoy rep to see if it has infact been loaded.

The Ford pass app says it's connected to my vehicle. I can't activate it obviously...

Does anyone have any inside info on the plant holds? Built 4/21. Current estimate is 6/29.

Wind noise, headlights, chips
I can’t speak to the headlights/chips, but the current wind-noise solution appears to be “no wind noise if you aren’t able to drive your Bronco”

There's an actual wind noise test in all auto factories... If they fail, they're placed on hold
