There's a few posts with this info as I put some info in them, just a quick recap:

- Sub Enclosure is there with a Sub that has no magnet, an Amp with no chips, and the Sub trim panel.

- I added a Kicker 8in Comp RT Sub $125 and Soundstream Sub AMP $135 and used a Plug and Play harness for $175. Sounds decent but I also swapped out all 6 speakers while I was at it.

Which plug and play harness did you get? Does it connect to sub wires in the rear or to head unit in dash?

Just replaced the "fake" amp and sub from the factory with the Fusion amp ( FoMoCo FP5T-18C808-AB Audio High Performance Sound System Amplifier for Ford Fusion FP5T18C808AB ) and the Kicker 6.75" sub (48CWRT674 ).

I installed the Kicker Subwoofer and amp today. No need to fully remove the panel in my 2 door, just pulled it back enough to remove the enclosure and replace the dummy amp/woofer. Other than drilling holes to mount the woofer the whole project was plug and play. This was my first time using Forscan. I'm a Mac guy so I bought a $149 PC on Amazon and the cable. I followed the helpful tutorials on YouTube and made the change to enable the subwoofer. Nice to have bass in the Bronco.

Kicker amp with DSP will be my next project when available.

Thanks to everyone who contributed.

This setup is really quite easy. Isn't it remarkable that Ford couldn't figure out how to get it handled themselves?

I'm still trying to figure out why Ford went to the trouble to install a faux woofer and empty amp? Is it due to crash test standards? What other reason could there be? I did appreciate the wires in place... made this a very easy project.

Didn’t throw any codes? I just did this same install and I can’t seem to get rid of the battery warning light from the ACM code. I’ve tried everything I’ve found here and nothing has worked.

I have no code issues. I'll leave this to the Forscan experts on the Forum. Good luck!

What amp did you use for the sub? My Badlands is a 23, so it should have the faux sub and amp. Did you need any harnesses for just the sub amp install?

I also did the Fusion amp and Kicker sub replacement this week. As others have said there are no adapters needed and a straight forward build. I stuffed the ported tube with old t-shirt remnants. I did the Forscan change. That to me was the most stressful part. It sounds great.

Did you listen to the subwoofer before you stuffed the port? Curious about the difference in sound? I'm going to install the Kicker 200.4 amp next week and I'll have to disconnect the amp for the DSP calibration. Since I'll be back in there I was considering plugging up the port.

I did, it was louder but a bit muddier, and there was port noise you could hear. It sounded a bit better with the port blocked even though it wasn't as loud. Personal preference, it just sounded cleaner to me with the port plugged.
