Better yet I'd like to see this next to a Wrangler both with the top off. Anything Ford makes is going to dwarf the bronco I size.
I hope not, that would make it a really huge car and too big. I think I agree with what tv farrel said above. It needs to be small and nimble enough to be capable of off roading but heavy enough to tow. I'd like to see it around Wrangler size, maybe just a bit bigger.

Definitely some serious talent represented in those renders.

However, it looks too retro. I think that time is past.

It doesn't look like the proper kind of retro either if you were going that way. This looks very 70's Ford truckish.

I think the idea of a Bronco is awesome. I'd buy one if it was designed well.

But once the nostalgic vibe wears off, your stuck with an old looking vehicle.

I'd rather see the retro cues kind of there, but very subdued with more of the current of future design language present.

What I like about these concepts is that they don't look like everything else out there.

It has a manly look that I can fully support. But I think it is possible to achieve this without the old 70's look and without unimaginative elements like round headlights, etc.

The last gen Mustang, the current Challenger, and others have done the retro thing to death.

Yes the vehicle has history. But I don't think history needs to repeat itself.

Combine the dimensions of those concepts with a heavy dose of 2016 Raptor styling cues and you'd be on to something...

Right now, it looks like a 70's pickup truck with a mismatched camper shell.

Just found this. I think it is pretty close to what the Bronco should look like. Not perfect. But in overall tone. The front needs to be reworked to make it unique and the sides and back need some styling. the windshield needs to be a bit more upright as well to give it that certain look (at the expense of aero...). But overall, it allows the Bronco to stay true to what it is without looking outdated from the hit:

personally I think if the above were combined with the below, you'd have the perfect Bronco:

The raptor looking front end looks great no doubt but I'd rather the Bronco have a unique front end instead of sharing a front end with some other Ford truck. I don't want to see a Bronco in my rear view mirror and not realize it because I think it's a Raptor or F Series truck.

So I agree with the Raptor front end would be a good start and then you add unique styling elements just for the Bronco.

No doubt.

What at I said was some kind of combo of the two concepts.

I dont want to see a clone.

But ut should definitely use that design language.

The raptor is styled perfect.

The bronco should be unique but it should share a design influence.

That small silver one is the 2004 concept.
My opinion of that one is, it's hideous. Honestly, probably the ugliest concept I have ever seen.
The bigger one, if I read right , was done for an April Fools day joke.

But I get what your saying about modern lines can still look masculine. The 2005-ish Super Dutys come to mind.

I'd like to see more of that orange one posted up a few posts back. Note the wrap around headlights, so there are some modern touches.

April fools or no, it looks dang good.

Modern, masculine, and forward looking.

Its nowhete near perfect. But I can see good influence there.

i was pretty excited when I saw the 6g render in a thumbnail.

But as I saw the bigger version it became apparent that it just won't do.

For example, when it is turned to full side view, it would simply look like a 1975 truck. Nothing cool about that.

It looks like an old truck with a mismatched camper (yes I'm aware that the old Broncos did that. But this is a new time where those kinds of things are sorted easily), lazy round headlights and a needless bar going across.

What at I really dig about the render are the dimensions and the stance/ride height.

Kerp eps those dimensions and aggressive stance with burly ride height but bring the current/future design language into the mix.

If if the Bronco were invented for the first time today, what would it look like?

From there, add very subtle cues to the past and you have a winner.

Yep, I should have mentioned that also, the April Fools day one does look pretty good, but it also looks to be full size based, which seems to be a detractor for most comments I have read so far, especially if their goal is to go after the Jeep Wrangler's market.

Funny how some want a lot of throwback to the old Broncos and others want all new. I tend to believe that the modern Broncos are the Explorer and Expedition. That seems to be the natural evolution to me.
What the intended goal seems to be is a Jeep killer, much like the 1G Bronos were, slightly bigger, very utilitarian in their base form. I'm not certain they can get much bigger than the Wranglers though. Per very little research, the Wrangler is already bigger than the 1G Bronco.
So who knows, it's all speculation at this point.

------------1976 Bronco------------- 2016 Wranglers
Length --------152.1"---------------- 164" or 184"

Width------------69.1"----------------------74"

Height -----------71.2"--------------------- 73"

If my 69 was running right now , I'd love to take it across the street and take some side by side comparison shots with the neighbors new Unlimited.

I also have a feeling that once they redesign the hard top to lift off,
1. They could change the lines to match the front better.
2.I'm betting , with the top off but the rest exactly as drawn right now, it would look pretty tough.

The april fools day one looks good, why wouldn't it? it's just a re-proportioned Raptor. But it won't do as a Bronco. It's too rounded, too curved, too pedestrian. The fenders need to be squared. From the rear 1/3 view it looks way too much like an Explorer. The same can be said of the 6g render but overall it looks more off road to me. More utilitarian.

Maybe Ford Released these renderings as a 3rd party's rendering to gauge interest. I personally hope they make it somewhat close to these. I would love it if someone could photo shop these renderings into a 4 Door. I think if they make it, it should be a 2 door, but very interested to see what a 4 door would look like,

The Bronco is an icon in similar way to how the Mustang is. Just as they did with that they would be smart to do consumer testing with the design to see how people react. So who knows maybe this is part of it. I hope they are reading our comments!
