Hey guys, has anyone had any direct experience with the axle back (or cat-back) Flowmaster Outlaw and Flow FX dual exhausts? Specifically the difference between the 2. I like a nice aggressive tone but don't want the level to be unbearable or tone to be unpleasant. As an additional note, Flowmaster actually lists hp/torque gains as greater for the axle-back systems, is there any additional advantage to going cat-back?

Cat back or not, the Flowmaster Outlaw High Clearance Axle Back Exhaust is a straight pipe and between it and the cat there is nothing but straight pipe. So unless it's a larger diameter, mandrel bent pipe, or has some additional resonator/muffler; I can't see there being any significant difference between the axle back and cat back.

If you want a nice sounding cat back system at a great price, I recommend the AfE system that I am running. The Flowmaster Outlaw High Clearance Axle Back Exhaust is just a bit obnoxious for daily use.

I’m referencing the Outlaw dual exhaust which is not the straight pipe.

I did in fact. I put on the FlowFX axle back. My impressions are:
1. Quality built
2. Easy install
3. Nice tone most of the time
4. Loud when cold and at certain RPM
5. Almost unnoticeable when cruising
6. Can be a bit grating at certain RPM

Overall, I’m pretty pleased with it. I will say, when I first put it on I wasn’t sure I could keep it, it was so loud. But it’s mellowed some (or I’ve gotten used to it). I don’t know if it would be an option on a 2 door as if it were louder I’d have to pass.
