Since your experience up to then with that dealership was good I'd first go to the GM or owner and inform them of the issue, then demand that they discipline that employee and refund anyone who fell for this in the past. Let them know that you will report them to Ford unless you see action within a short time. Your other option is calling the police, as depending on how careful that sleazebag was with his language this could very well qualify as fraud.

Email the GM and follow up with an office visit. Conversations mean nothing to management. If it’s in writing they have to respond to you. (union rep 101)

So I dropped by my dealer yesterday to tweak my April 2021 order a bit to try and avoid some constraints and actually get my Bronco one day this year. Anyway, that was done without a hitch with my salesman--no complaints there at all.

Then, towards the end I was introduced to another dude (not a salesman but listed on the order sheet in the top left corner) and was told he "has the power to move you up or down the wait list". He said he would drop my priority code from 19 to 10 for +$1,000.

Needless to say this was a huge turnoff and really detracted from the otherwise good experience I had been having with the dealer.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? Besides that, this is total BS right? I understood priority codes 10 through 19 to be basically equivalent. If not, then what the hell is this dealer doing selling a 'cut in line'?
I would report that person to Ford not the dealership but directly to Ford if you remember that person’s name

Trying not to sound like a idiot.
But I was under the impression that
1. Dealership has no control between 10 and 19
2. Still goes by build availability and allocation
Am I incorrect?

If you haven't read this article... it's worth your time. Lots of shenanigans going on. As someone else summarized -
"With the Bronco, Ford said only half of its shipments would be routed based on online reservations; another quarter would be sent based on the location of the dealerships, with larger markets getting priority, and the final 25% would be sent based on historic volume of sales, with bigger, busier stores taking precedent... Ford also has loosened rules about how closely dealers have to stick to the reservation line. At first, the company required that 80% of new Broncos be matched to a name on the digital order list, according to several dealers; today that’s just 60%. So four out of 10 new Broncos can go to a walk-in customer or the highest bidder."

If a dealer is trying to scam you before its even built I wonder what they will do when it arrives and you enter the finance office.

When I ordered, my code was 19.
I made a couple changes to the order, my code stayed 19.
I made another change to the order, my code changed to 10.

Seeing the change, I thought "Oh, this could be great news!". When I asked my sales rep about the change I was told that it was really nothing, the ordering system does that on its own and the only code that has a real effect is 99.

I tend to belive him about that as the order update that changed the code to 10 was months ago and I'm stiiiilllll waiting for any info at all about my order being built.

My dealer didn’t try to pull any shenanigans like that. They even gave me a really good deal to grease my muffler bearings and fill my blinker fluid reservoir.
They really threw me a curve ball when they told me we are going to have to top off your exhaust fluid, and it would be 30.00🤣

mine put me at 11 right off the bat and said it makes no real difference 10-19 when it comes to Bronco. he just typed in 11 as it was just 2 pushes of the 1 key. lol They didn't charge me anything extra and was very clear that MSRP is what they charged. He clearly stated it on my contract when i put my extra $1000 down when i ordered but they said i didn't have to put a dime down if i didn't want to. He even said once it comes in if they have any rebates from Ford or promotions he'd give them to me as well. he's been great to deal with

That's a sales manager, and that's absolutely scum bag behaviour. He can't do anything for you and even if he could, you wouldn't know the difference. He's trying to take advantage of you.

There's so little communication from Ford about orders right now, your Bronco could be coming in 6 weeks or it could be coming in 6 months. So he might tell you it'll come sooner, let's say it arrives in April or May, he'll say "see, it would have arrived in June!" The dealers don't know any more than the customers. Unless he is willing to put it on paper, and say, "I guarantee your Bronco will be here by such and such a date," don't do it. Even then, I wouldn't, because he can't possibly guarantee that. lol Ford as a company can't even guarantee that right now.

They have some control over the way orders get coded, but at this time it doesn't matter. 3-4 years ago, this actually might have been the case, where they could prioritize your build ahead of 200 others... but think about all the other constraints right now. What if his build is a modular hard top, tow package, with paint protection? And then when it gets pulled, there's still a microchip shortage? It doesn't matter what code the dealership has placed on it, it's not getting built because they don't have the commodities to build it. So they move on to the next one. And then, even if it gets built, what if it ends up on Ice Mountain? It's not first in, first out, as we've seen.

Thanks guys. This seriously does have me worried about what shenanigans might pop up on delivery day. I did get the order summary signed for whatever that's worth.

A couple related questions :
1) Salesman kept reminding me that if I get pushed out to MY23 price will go up to that years' MSRP. If there's supposed to be price protection that far out, what do I have to show that gives me a leg to stand on?

2) How long should it take for the order changes to show up online? Should I be worried it's still showing my olld build?

If I were you, I would get more than a signed order summary. In my experience that's not enough to protect yourself from ADM. Sign a deal disclosure that shows your monthly payments, your borrowing costs with your expected interest rate, or if you're paying cash, your on-the-road price after taxes, etc. Ford has sent out all kinds of communications regarding price protections on the Bronco but it all depends on your original order date. Speak to your dealer about that, they should have more details. As a rule of thumb though, depending on the vehicle, prices increase from $1000-1500 each year (CAD).

I don't know about the second part because as a Canadian, I have no way of tracking my own order, besides Vehicle Visibility which can really only be accessed by a dealership. If it's not showing up yet though I wouldn't panic. It's possible they just haven't sat down to update your order and submit the change. Until the vehicle is serialized, you can make changes. Once it's scheduled for production, you're locked in.
