I love the look of this. Can the rear towers holding the Rotopax be installed independently of the roof rack? My 78-inch Thule crossbars require that I use the factory roof rails and I really can't deviate from this because the items I carry often require every bit of the 78".

This looks like an awesome setup. Are you confident the apparatus won't rotate around the tire? I'm guessing the ratchet strap renders it pretty stout. Your lynx photo is outstanding by the way.
