  1. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

yes, and to complicate things, often in manufacturing issues there are 2 or more conflating variables. So, generically: good + marginal = adequate performance (no failure) marginal + marginal = inadequate performance (failure) This is what I'm worried about. Marginal valve quality and...
  2. Bumpers: Aftermarket Bumper List

https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/BR6SB-P.html https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/BR6SB-B.html Both of those bolt on to the modular bumper and they are talking about making a shorter bull bar I think.
  3. The wait is over in Longmont, CO

    congrats! see you around town!
  4. Terrible rattling in panel above rear subwoofer

I noticed some rattling and assumed it was something related to the housing, but didn't go digging around yet. Thanks for posting, I'll be more motivated to go look now. Which speaker system do you have?
  5. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I’m following your intent. Commenting on the rest.
  6. Hey guys, new member from Denver

welcome from Longmont! I've seen a bunch of Bronco's on the road around here in the past couple weeks. Glad to see folks getting their vehicles!
  7. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Honestly, I thought the "take it somewhere else" post was a joke. Since airplane and helicopter crashes are a bit more important than blown bronco engines, all things considered. I think the vast majority of us can tolerate a little off topic chumminess...better than the 50 or so "nothing to see...
  8. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Maybe some early oil changes in the affected date range would catch something early? Collect and analyze for metals?
  9. JcrOffroad - prototyping begins!

I may have missed it in the thread but I thought you guys were thinking it might not have to be moved? My plate and winch are on order, so I’ll install without the relocation (ADD bracket is 8-10 weeks out, also ordered) and see how it responds unless someone has definitively run the experiment.
  10. ADV Fiberglass - Bronco Hardtop Teaser - Part 2

is this a real product or just a drawing? Can you publish a link, please, not seeing on their website yet?
  11. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

If you have the opportunity to drive both I would highly recommend it. I was surprised by the 4-banger and for sure if I went 2-door I would have considered it. I'm generally just not a twin turbo 4-cylinder guy, personally. the 2.7L is awesome!
  12. JcrOffroad’s bolt-on steel bumper parts! Hoops & more.

Do you have a batch on the ready? What is lead time? Nice work!
  13. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I actually think both posts here have merit if the issue is isolated to a valve failure in a subset of engines. If that case, then the failure rate in the general population as of today is exceedingly small, perhaps non-existent. Thus it's even more of a snooze-fest for everyone not involved...
  14. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Thanks for the explanation. I think if I were in that range I'd personally get a lot more aggressive with it....I'm driving around either 1) with 2 little kids or 2) in the middle of nowhere (fishing)...so while I get that everything is warrantied it's at least an enormous hassle and at worse...
  15. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

does anyone have a way to estimate (or know for certain) how many engines were produced in the date range in question? i.e. do our VINs have any chronological data encoded or any production reports/numbers we can get ahold of? The failure rate needs to be calculated in that date range, not at large.
  16. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

was the retainer what was fingered by an anonymous employee? I saw some mentions, but were there more details than "bad batch" ever released?
  17. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

talked to a former colleague of mine who runs a company specializing in failure mode analysis. He was very adamant to not get independent inspection done before other steps were taken (I will start another post or DM me for details), otherwise the data would be discounted. If it were my engine...
  18. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

maybe since there are a couple active cases someone other than Ford can get their eyes on the engines? possible for you or for @TravisC91 ? might need to crowdsource some funding for some independent experts but I think there may be enough interested people here...
  19. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Few questions: 1) Was the date range of failures modified based on the last few reports? Are we still looking at the same or is that expanding? Any involvement from members here in other forums that may suggest the range is wider? 2) Are there any reports of owners noticing noise other than...
