Not really liking any of the options on the market rn. A bent metal plate is not sufficient, needs some gusset.. And I heard about fitment issues for many brands. Ford OEM sells brackets as well, and they should be a perfect fit
Nice camper! Looking great
I towed my 09 Miata on car trailer (3500lbs total!) over 600 miles with my 2-door 2.3 manual badlands. The Bronco handled great. I barely noticed the weight. Minimal impact to MPG. I would never exceed the maximum rating on the Bronco though. The hitch receive cross...
He is right, consumers care less about powertrains, and more about MPG. So many engine sensors, servos, tolerances, and complexity can be traced back to EPA regulations. This is both good and bad. Good, because consumers really do care about MPG (more than powertrain). Bad, because reliability...
Installed and working great! The rears are getting the full range of sounds now. Definitely a noticeable improvement in volume and quality, especially for rear passengers. I was able to adjust tone in the ford sync system, even with the EQ disabled. I turned up the base and mid a bit. Plug and...
My SSV Works 6.5 pods are getting installed today on my non-B&O 2022 badlands 2-door (non-sub). First audio upgrade. Hoping they add a bit more base and more surround sound. I’m not a fan of sound stage. To be honest, I don’t mind the bronco audio system. It just lacks base. The highs and mids...
It would be a shame if your reservoir happened to fall off due to poor welds/corrosion/rust. It would be a shame if Ford had to replace it under recall in that situation…
Clearly a stronger design than the OEM receiver. I talked with HK, and they are working on getting it rated for road use. It is only off road approved. A receivers weight rating will never exceed the vehicles manufactured limits, but this receiver is clearly stronger.
The bronco hitch receiver is very weak due to the cross member weakness. It is only rated at 350lbs max tongue weight on a normal hitch with 2in ball. Drop hitches, extended hitches, and bike carriers all likely exceed thresholds from lever effect.
For anyone needing a better off-road hitch...
Looking for recommendations for tailgate reinforcement brace. See many options available online, but I don’t like the looks of most. I want a factory appearance. So far the OEM raptor brace looks the best to me. Ideally made in USA. Do any manufacturers make a round “tubular” style brace? I have...
I miss my element. Mine was a manual lowered on coilovers haha. One of the best designed cars ever made. The seats and tailgate was awesome. Really wish the bronco had a tailgate. But the element is just so old now, and couldn’t go much faster than 55mph. I get better MPG in the bronco. And the...
By legal standards, fair warning, you all are severely overloading your receivers. The lever effect will likely more than halve that tongue weight, from 350 to 175. Bronco cross member and receivers are weak. The only way this would be remotely legal is if you do a spare tire delete, and put the...
Following. I recommend using a permanent water tight structural adhesive like 3M 4000 UV. That will prevent cracking, but the mounting hardware will never come off. Let us know how it goes. I also want to drill my hardtop someday, to add interior structural support brackets.
Get a hard top. Especially if it is a daily. Less noise. Better insulation. More space opening trunk. I just leave the hardtop off all summer anyways. It’s very easy to remove with a hoist. I think the soft top looks terrible on 4-doors, but admit it somehow looks great on 2-doors.
Every rack is going to make noise. You get use to it. Unless it whistles; that would be unacceptable. I have the zroadz, it’s not bad, just a low rumble, and I don’t even use the fairing.
The price difference between the 2.3 vs 2.7 is almost negligible. When selecting comparables, I would pay more attention to these key features:
1) Front/Rear lockers (SAS, Badlands ,Wildtrak, Raptor, etc..)
2) 4A - Advanced 4WD Transfer Case (SAS, Badlands ,Wildtrak, Raptor, etc..)
3) Low...
A flat 3in by 20ft tow strap is great for moving "unstuck" vehicles. But it is not the best option for pulling a "stuck" vehicle out of mud/snow. Freeing a "stuck" vehicle generally requires a kinetic rope or winch. Dynamic recoveries using kinetic ropes are extremely dangerous though. A...
