I'm going to be installing a Curt 4-pin wiring harness (56471) on my Black Diamond. Curt now has a separate 4-pin harnesses for Broncos with LED taillights and non-LED taillights. The Black Diamond has halogen taillights so it needs the non-LED harness. The installation instructions call for...
And speaking of oil changes, does anyone on the forum send samples of their used oil in for analysis? I knew a competitive motorcycle builder who did this and kept a chart of the results over time. I wonder if that batch of bad values showed signs of spalling (e.g., metal in the oil) before it...
I'm confused. Would it really make any difference if there's 5, 6, 7 or even 8 quarts in the oil pan as long as the oil is clean and at the proper pressure as it's going through the motor? For the same miles driven, 5 quarts would make more "trips" through the motor and thus be dirtier than 8...
My dealer gave me a courtesy carwash today. Because the license plate extends under the bumper, the whirling brushes caught it and beat it up. It even pulled the left upper attachment point free from the bumper. Any suggestions on how I can "harden" the mount to withstand carwash equipment?
Were you able to use the brackets that came with the bar or did you use separate nuts under the bumper? What do you think of idea of welding up the two forward holes on the bracket and re-drilling them just a bit further back. Then I'd do a little work with my bench grinder to make the front...
What do think of the idea of scheduling "Shade Tree Mechanic Days" when it's not 105 degrees outside. I'd like to attach a brush bar to my Capable Bumper but I'm a little leery to do so without a spotter. It could also become a Bronco parts swap and biggest liar contest.
I'm guessing here, but in old days turn signals and brake lights were both red. Now some turn signals can be amber and thus require two wires. That's just a guess.
Do you think a little time with a bench grinder would have allowed the backing plate that came with it to fit? If anyone builds their own backing plate for the capable bumper, please share the measurements. Thanks.
Has anyone done a complete "autopsy" on this matter? Is it usually just the pump or are the other associated electronic components involved. I read that if the "brain box" thinks the vehicle has been in a crash (i.e., rolled over), it automatically disables the fuel pump as a safety matter...
Has anyone actually installed a front receiver on their 6G Bronco? I've seen portable winch platforms for rear receivers and just wondered if it could be made to work in front. Thanks.
It might be easier to install a "no splice" 4-pin harness made specifically for your model. The connector pins are different on the LED and halogen taillights.
Yup, it's beautiful. But keep in mind that the buffalo are in the middle of the annual buffalo rut. I've ridden my motorcycle through Custer State Park many times. Each year bikers are knocked off their scoots because they got too close or "challenged" a bull. Even encounters with cows can...
I got the cover off and here's what I see:
Is that huge "EBL" cable what I'm looking for? Do I pull the white plastic doohickey out to get to the connector? Thanks again.
Is there a way I can quick splice into that 12 volt wire from underneath the Bronco? I'm hoping when the project is complete, there wouldn't be a wire exposed in the cargo area. is there a "color code" for this wire? Is the wire hidden in a loom that would make it hard to find from under the...
What would happen if I doubled up two separate 1/2 inch kinetic ropes? I'm sure it wouldn't have the same capacity as a 1 inch rope but it would have to be greater than a stand alone 1/2 inch. A big box store has a 1/2" x 20' kinetic rope for $29.00. Yeah, I know I'm cheap but in truth i'm...
