  1. Roof Rack and Tent for 5

For that many people, a roof tent is often a bad idea. In addition to trouble finding one that large that isn't too heavy for the roof, getting kids out to pee in the middle of the night and down a ladder is rough. Being on the ground and having multiple doors helps a lot. Just my $0.02, but...
  2. Honest help with build plan; CAI, H/C Pipes, Intercooler, Exhaust

@Big Lig - Also, if you haven't yet, head down to Matagorda for some really great and quite remote beach driving. Definitely air down and bring a shovel. The sand gets fairly gnarly at times. 20+ miles from where you get on the sand to the cut at the north. No houses, and you won't see much of...
  3. Bestop Sunrider Install and Review 2024 (2 Door)

Sorry I didn't reply earlier! The arms are indeed outside the rack. The clearance is tight, but enough to function perfectly. It's fully open and operates without any issues. Without the rack, it might sit an inch or two lower when fully open. The arms are "outside", but the center bars rest...
  4. What are we doing for our pets? Show your setup

Rear seat delete + a platform for the pup in the back. He's clipped to a restraint around the roll bar to key him from trying to drive!
  5. Larry’s 2 door Wildtrak SAS build

That LJ was gorgeous and so is the new Bronco! The 2dr bronco has roughly the same wheelbase as an LJ. ~100" is a sweet spot, i.m.o. Enjoy!
  6. PSA - Get a transmission skid plate or replace the plastic pan

Yeah, a transmission skid / replacement pan is well worth the money. Personally, I've running an RCI skid, but there are other companies (e.g. Falcon) that likely make better ones. (The RCI one is fine, but I don't love that you remove the factory transmission skid with the more robust crossbar...
  7. National Park Service Will Cite Drivers of AWD Cars For Driving on 4WD-Only Trails

I actually kinda miss my '85 S10 Blazer. Had the "big" v6 and made 110HP. Felt okay as a manual. No driver's seatbelt or windshield wipers and the headlights went out when you hit a bump. Leaked every fluid in it onto something hot, so it _stank_ once it got up to temp. But it fit down trails...
  8. National Park Service Will Cite Drivers of AWD Cars For Driving on 4WD-Only Trails

Just for clarity, their definition has nothing to do with locking front or rear diff differentials. They're defining a part time 4wd system and requiring that with low range. In that case, there is no center differential, so the _center_ differential is what's locked. Any bronco would meet...
  9. Ford forgot to bolt my engine to the engine mount...

This seems like good advice. I agree the situation is nuts, but at the end of the day, there's no glaringly obvious reason that more damage than what was fixed was done. I don't doubt there likely could be, but asking for a full replacement is unlikely to happen. Asking for an extended warranty...
  10. What did you do TO / WITH your Bronco today? 👨🏻‍🔧🧰🚿🛠

Went out for a picnic with a view:
  11. Looking for list of tools/sizes/etc that are common to the 6G? For my tool kit

At least on mine, there are torx plus 27 on the inside of the hardtop, as well. They hold on the plates that the clamps fit onto. Not something you're likely to need on the trail, but I needed them when installing aftermarket things.
  12. Bestop Sunrider Install and Review 2024 (2 Door)

For whatever it's worth, at least for my Bronco ('23 2Dr badlands), the hardware you need to remove at the leading edge of the back hardtop uses torx plus 27 fasteners. The install instructions say it's torx 40, but it likely varies by exact year/model (and packages, maybe?). TP27 is not...
  13. DIY rear seat delete shelf solution for our dog

This is mostly an excuse to post a cute pup+bronco picture, but for anyone else wondering how high up or not he is on the shelf:
  14. DIY rear seat delete shelf solution for our dog

Yeah, exactly. He's clipped to the roll bar and he's wearing a harness when he's in the car. The leash currently isn't strong enough for an actual crash, but it's enough to keep him from flying forward if we slam on the brakes (or, more commonly, keep him from trying to climb into the driver's...
  15. DIY rear seat delete shelf solution for our dog

I know there have been a lot of folks doing various rear seat delete storage systems, but I thought folks might be interested in a bit of a different approach that I wound up taking. The 2 door's rear seats are not great for a dog, and I don't love having a dog bed on top of them, so I just...
  16. TrailRax Accessories and Mounts

Other folks have already mentioned this, but the various "grip" shovel/paddle holders can work nicely above other things mounted on the side pax rax. There are holes drilled on the vertical side bars just above the bend that provide a rather perfect place to mount a shovel/etc holder. I went...
  17. Hardtop Roof Rack: if you were buying today?

Another vote for trailrax from me. I know you're not looking for a half rack, but I think they're by far the best for folks who are. There are other options that seem to be good for a full rack, especially for 4-door. In my case (2dr, really wanted a half rack to keep the top panels fully open)...
  18. Are Recovery / Traction Boards Actually Useful?

They're damned useful on the beach and in snow. A shovel doesn't always help, especially if you've gotten through sand on the beach and down into marsh mud. You don't always have something to winch to. I've worn out a set of cheap X bull ones (turns out those crack easy) and decided to get...
  19. Have a very Bronco Christmas!

We went out horsing around today for Christmas.
  20. Picture of the Day.

Just taking the dog out to hike around a bit, but couldn't resist a picture...
