I've used them my entire adult life and never had an issue. They aren't considered a permanent repair but in my experience they always lasted the life of the tire. Puncture seal can work okay too but be aware that using that shit will ruin the TPMS sensor on that wheel.

That is exactly what I'm going to do for mine. I'm going to use 6 ft tow straps to cradle the roof though. So we'll see how that goes.
