I used the slippery mode and I wish I could drive it this way all the time haha. It engaged 4 wd Auto, and it drives like a tank. The shifting on a manual is more solid, and it just feels more solid on the road.
Hey! Did you ever end up getting a group started in the Austin area? If so, let me know man. I see soooooo many Broncos here in Austin now. Parked next to a Wildtrak this morning at Starbucks, haha.
honestly, it may have come that way! When I was taking panels off for the speakers, I noticed a little rust/corrosion from exposed metal where the paint either came off or was chipped. Not worth complaining because it’s covered, but still.
Can you elaborate on what you did/what Kicker said to do? I have added kicker speakers all around, a bi-amp harness from hoel, and a kicker key 200.4 amp. The music sound is better, but the bass is still pretty crappy and makes more of a thud sound than what a good system sounds like.
I'm...
I'm getting about 17 mpg with the manual (mix of city and highway driving) and I'm new to the manual transmission. It's a thirsty Bronco, even without the sasquatch package.
So far, I've installed kicker speakers, a bi-amp wiring setup from hoel, and a kicker key amp. I have a kicker hideaway to install still that will capture the bass that the head unit still fails to pick up. It's an interesting problem to solve!
I have troubles with the crappy audio lol. Once you change anything, you will discover you need:
1. New dash and kicker panel speakers
2. Kicker key amp for those.
3. A 8" or 10" sub to catch the low frequency bass that won't be caught by the speakers you just installed.
I'm not even an...
Thanks for the pictures and information! Just to clarify on your kicker key setup. I am also wired for bi-amp mode (hoel wiring THANK YOU) and replaced those speakers and got a kicker key. On the kicker key, you still have bi-amp mode engaged, correct? Sorry if it's a silly question, but just...
Assuming it sounds great, but how much improvement did you see? I've installed a kicker key amp, a bi-amp wiring setup from Hoel, and Kicker CS speakers all around. I still have issues with what I figure is low range bass on a lot of songs, and it really doesn't "bump" like it should still haha...
@flip just sent you a message. Thanks for your help!
I would need the dead pedal foot rest and the panel that covers the speaker. I broke the tab tip that connects that whole panel to the other ones (I gotta say, these panels are very very flimsy, I broke it with very little force.)
So, I fell for this weird design on the dead pedal foot rest in my Bronco during an audio install. The diagrams I saw about removing the dead pedal weren't clear about the "trap door" cover to expose the two screws underneath the panel, IMO. Thus, I pulled too hard, expecting some tabs to come...
Thanks for adding this discussion on speaker installs with the kicker key. I'm finishing my speaker side of the intall tonight, so this should be extremely helpful in making arguably the easier half of the install much easier. Coming from a Subaru Forester XT that had an impressive Harman Kardon...
I'm about 17 mpg with the 2.3L manual. Keep in mind I'm also a new manual driver, so still working on driving efficiently haha. I also keep forgetting to put it into Eco mode when I commute, haha.
