They can, but they most likely won't. Ford does not pay dealers labor hours to update modules just because they are out of date. These Sync 4 vehicles are updated with software called FDRS and it will take hours and hours to get your truck up to date. Nobody likes to work for free, so you can't...
Modem is working fine and the truck is talking to the cloud fine. OTA dashboard shows you got an update 2 weeks ago. That same update was sent in May and it timed out and failed because the truck was not being driven. It took 2.5 months for it to be resent. The OTA was 2.1.2 which is (as...
99% of updates come in through cellular. If you want, send me your VIN and I'll poke around and see if I see any red flags. In your original post, I see the connectivity icons there, so your modem is talking to the cloud.
It doesn't work that way, brother. You need to have an OTA sent before the auto-update schedule will do anything. It's a long read, but I made on write up on the F150 forum of how OTA's work. This will give you a better understanding of how updates work (and don't work)...
That actually explains a lot. When an OTA gets sent to a vehicle, it must be turned on while the OTA in sitting in queue in order for the update to proceed to the next step. It is very probable that updates were sent to it, but because the truck was sitting, the updates timed out and failed.
His issue and yours are not the same. You had an OTA in queue and your car was not responding to it. Connecting the wifi somehow allowed the handshake between your truck and the server to work. You have to first be sent an update before it can fail or succeed. The OP is still on software from...
That's pretty damn old. There's nothing you can do to force an OTA. The only way is to invest in the tools needed for FDRS to update the truck yourself.
Go to your "about sync" screen on your touchscreen. If your Sync version is older than 22293, then you are missing updates and the feature you want is not there for you. If you are unsure how to check this, post or send me your VIN and I can check.
For 2024, the F150 and new S650 Mustang changed hardware-wise. The update for the Mustangs that added new gauges mentioned earlier in this thread is an APIM update and not an IPC update. Livinitup already put a 2024 F150 IPC on his bench to mess with it and it is completely different from the...
@AustyPosty I just though of something. Go to the AB data on that location in your BCM, and see what is there and convert it to decimal. It is matches the gears your truck had, then you know that's what needs to be changed. If you're not sure, post or send me the VIN and I can check.
Yes, the hex code needs to be changed in the BCM to match whatever gears you put on. What I don't know is if the location in the BCM for the Bronco is the same as in the F150. On my truck:
There you have to enter the hex code that coincides with the gears you put in here. Convert decimal to hex...
Oh, I can relate. I'm also tuned so I have auto-updates off for the same reason. They're trying to ram one down my throat right now. lol
If the GWM is showing for you, then you're fine and not affected by the issue.
Off topic, but: Are you showing any IPC or GWM updates pending, or are you stuck there at 23159? Do you have FDRS access? If you are not showing the GWM you need to progress to the next APIM update and you have FDRS, message me. I may be able to help.
To check what modules have pending updates, someone would need to run the VIN through PTS or FDRS to check. Message me the VIN and I can do it for you.
The truck I posted was on Sync 23159, so I don't trust that one has the latest IPC update. What I don't know is if the 2024 Broncos have the same hardware are the previous model years. There were some changes for the F150 and Mustangs for 2024.
Is your truck fully updated to the latest Sync...
Yes, the IPC can be updated via the OTA process and animations can be changed and added.
Does anyone know what the strategy is for the latest Bronco IPC software? This Bronco is on the -AF strat and shows an IPC update pending.
Sweet! Just get a Ford Vlinker cable from amazon. It costs about $30 and FORScan is free for a 2 month license or $12 for a whole year. It's a very easy fix.
Yes, you can turn that off with FORScan. Not sure if the changes are the same as it is for my truck, but I'm sure it's on the spreadsheet here.
Yes, in the wrench icon in FORScan, the script to reboot the GWM is there.
