This is a paper core coated with a resin to make your desired density core, i.e. 2, 4, 6 or 8 pounds per square foot. Worked the Aircraft industry and saw enough core to last two lifetimes.

This purchase fell through. It was advertised on eBay with 34K original miles. After talking to to the seller it was "That's what the Odometer says, but can't guarantee that's the actual miles". Then had no idea what the eBay escrow process was so I cancelled the purchase. Less than a week later...

You can see that they are using a 'Foaming' adhesive that could very well have sealed the edges if they would have run the bond line out a bit further.
