First find the most recent DORA (should be the docusign from January and should be in your inbox; this was before the recent increases from earlier this year so makes it much easier as you only need to worry about Column A in the 2023 Flowchart and Price Table). From the DORA Granger will deduct...
I initiated the activation and had Granger complete the process for me once the FordPass app showed that the 42,000 points were pending activation. The points posted immediately after Granger activated and now I can track as it is shipped to CA.
It's too bad that a flipper ruined this for everyone, would have been so much easier just to pay any tax directly to DMV (I've done this with the purchase of an out of state used vehicle before and it was super easy, DMV just tells you what you owe and you cut the check).
I was told via phone that Granger would mail me the check made out the CA DMV and the amount due to the DMV may be slightly higher or lower. If it's lower, I don't get refunded but if it's higher, the CA DMV would notify and work with Granger for the difference and I wouldn't be responsible for...
Finance reached out and the process was a breeze as expected. Both price protection/transition and modification certs were applied without issue. <$43k for a 2 door Badlands with 2.7 and High package? Yes please!
Only minor quibble is I wish mine was ready a few days ago, could have picked up...
Agreed, much better and should be workable. Still an extra step that just adds annoyance and no value but this is much preferred to relying on the DMV to receive and then properly credit the amount.
Same. I would much prefer to cut the check to the DMV when I get mine registered, that way there no risk anything gets lost or not credited properly. Knowing the CA DMV, they will receive the funds but won't have any record of this and it will be a miserable extended process trying to sort it...
Not sure what the shortest is but I may be in the running for the longest. Mine took a little over a month from ship date to Granger and arrived damaged so it's going to take extra time to repair. I'm guessing ~7 weeks from ship date until it's ready to be picked up. Oh well, it will be ready...
Great info, thanks! How did you find the weigh station you used? Or did you just go to a Ford dealer and have them do it? Or can the smog check places handle?
I tried googling but wasn't getting an obvious correct answer.
Oof. I just talked my girlfriend into flying out, picking up at Granger and road tripping back to CA through Moab but we would need to pick up 5/24 to make it work with work schedules. That seems unlikely given a 6+ day wait at Granger as my truck is stuck in Omaha. An average tortoise could...
Mine got pushed a week. It definitely didn't help that the railcar sat for over a week in Omaha before being unloaded. CSX status update has been "empty, released to customer" for a couple days so hopefully close now
From what I've gathered, all the brokers post the jobs to the same national system and take bids from the actual trucking companies that ship the vehicle. The advantage of Montway or similar is that there won't be a bait and switch and they stand by their quote. They also (in theory) only work...
I've done a bit more research and chatted with one of the largest and highest rated brokers [Montway]. Here's what they had to say (nothing independently verified but they came across as a legit operation unlike some of the cheapest options):
Nearly every company you contact is a broker but...
