That's worth a try. I too would use an epoxy (or JB Weld). Work it into the hole as much as you can. When I do JB Weld repairs, I often put a piece of masking tape over it, then shape it/smooth it out with a straight edge & let it cure. When it's cured, the masking tape will peel right off and...
