Put the FSR Aspen Lite on for the summer. Doesn't fit in the garage so I parked under an evergreen, with storms incoming. I thought it looked cool so I took a pic.
To OP, Mine has always been like that. I learned to just push it open to where I want and wait for the strut to catch up and stop. I assume that's normal.
I mounted my rtt and 270 awning (<150lbs) right on the OEM rack and 3 OEM crossbars. Cross country trips and daily driver all last summer. No problems. Will be doing the same this summer.
Chip helped me purchase a Bronco Sport at Granger a few years ago. Wonderful gentleman, came in on a Sunday to complete the transaction. My condolences to Chip and his family, and to the Granger family.
I have this also, I do like it, but, a pain to get to the 12v charger port. I use it for a fridge or solar battery unit. The top tray needs to be removed in order to use it.
22 Black Diamond 7mt. Oil and tires every 5k. Multiple cross country camping trips. I did have the manual transmission replaced at 37k because of the scraping noise. Otherwise I love it.

I actually attached it to the RTT cross bars that run underneath the RTT (drilled a few holes to match the mounts). Not the side rails/grooves. I used 5 mounts to spread out the weight of the awning. This particular awning weighs only about 50lbs. Ran it as my daily driver and a few camping...
