Not one person here has explained why it is a bad weld. It looks a little shitty, but no one has shown where the weld did not properly penerate the metal of both sections.
One...two... three... LET'S ALL PANIC!!!!!
Good lord, the Bronco is not a nuclear waste containment vessel. The weld is just fine. OP don't take that back to make a warranty claim, save yourself the embarrassment.
Fiberglass is classified as a (pay attention now) fiber-reinforced p-l-a-s-t-i-c. Glass fibers are not plastic; they are glass. Epoxy resin IS a plastic, which when used to make a fiber reinforced plastic part, the part is an epoxy plastic...
Have fun gentlemen.
It's all good.
I agree with you, it's probably the electrically-activated parking brake system. The OP mentioned he smelled cooked brake pads. At 2,100 miles I'd say the pads have bedded by now and the adhesive has heat cured, but if the parking brake shoes (I'm assuming the parking brake...
I think we are arguing nothing. The binding resin is what makes the part plastic. There are many different classes of plastic resins that are used to make fiber-reinforced plastic parts; epoxy resins are one type of plastic used. So if an automotive part is fiber-reinforced plastic and the...
Stupid insults aside, you wrote:
"Its gotta be related to the electric ebrake system bc I think our disc brakes are powered by engine/hydaulic vs power/electric on the 2.7 engines. So its not likely that its related to the disc brakes unless you got an air bubble in the hydraulic brake line and...
It's interesting. So the forward section (left section in the pic) is part of the windshield header and the aft section is part of the roll bar structure. It looks like to me the aft roll bar section slides into the windshield header and then is tack-welded at the oval opening on the header...
Epoxy is a thermosetting plastic, it is not a thermoplastic material; once it cures it can't reheated and reformed into a new shape.
"RESINS FOR REINFORCED PLASTIC MOLDING
Thermosetting resins are primarily used in the reinforced molding process... Diallyl phthalate, silicone, phenolic...
If you placed an order by 3/19/21, OR were a reservation holder prior to 3/19/21 you are elligible for model year 2021 price protection. That means if you place the same order of Black Diamond in MY 2022 that is exactly the same as a MY 2021 order, you will get the Model year 2021 price. The...
Fiberglass (i.e. the trademarked name) as used in the construction of boats, motorhomes, or corvettes for example, is the substrate used with an epoxy resin to form (construct) the part. The epoxy resin is what makes it a plastic, not the glass fiber substrate; the glass fiber substrate makes...
