I got the Ford Performance set shortly after they came out. Much preferred over the stock hitachis and decent price.
If I could go back in time I’d go directly to the Bilstein 6112s, as they are height adjustable. If you want to level (doesn’t matter to me) or want to add a chunk of front end...
<eyeing my FP bilsteins like a faithful horse I might have to put down>
This is really cool. Do these have internal droop limiters (bump stops?) like the Hoss 2.0 shocks?
Realistically, I should upgrade my M190 before fancy suspension, but…
Put me on that list for sure.
I like having a convertible. I despise how cumbersome it is to remove and reinstall the Ford rear windows, so I almost never do it.
Most of my cabin noise is from the rear too. Any chance of some before and after noise measurements?
Should also check out Armadillo https://armadillo.design/
I’m a year out from either buying a new bronco (to gain front locker, 4.70 gears, v6, and factory hardtop) or building mine - if I build mine it’s between the turn hardtop or the Armadillo top.
Thanks for the context. I have a non-squatch BD on 35s, and it’s fine so far with the 4.46 but I noticed a huge difference in responsiveness coming from the factory 31s. I drove a Badsquatch at the off roadeo in NH and that was also a significant difference.
I’m going to add the front locker...
No body lift needed? Have you seen any rubbing at lock with articulation?
My wife walked by another Bronco today that had 37s and goes “are those bigger than yours? That looks really good” so now I’m pricing out 37s. You’re the only person I’ve seen running 4.46s and 37s so far
Very excited to read this review. I can’t commit to pulling the trigger yet but am eyeing the square back hard. I barely use my soft top as intended because of security and heat, so why not get something quiet. Any chance of decibel readings (even Apple Watch) at highway speeds?
Plus the shot...
I live in Baltimore and there’s an OBX that street parks…doorless. Constantly. I guess they haven’t had any problems, but can’t say I’d ever be that brave.
I’d leave it topless some places, but not here. I guess the answer depends on what city (and which part).
I’m years away from having to do this (non-sas, probably warrants a regear from my 4.46s) but any shots from farther back to get a full body view?
I like my 35s, but bigger is better…
Recently did Baltimore>Sacramento and back in my 2.3 black diamond (on 35s with the 4.46 gearing to boot), no issues passing on I-70 in the Rockies or getting squirrelly on dirt and sand in the mountains at dinosaur national monument.
2.3 is fine, but power is power…
4 door soft top that folds flat without disassembling windows and having to store them somewhere. I’m happy to unzip and roll them up to go safari mode, don’t care if the back corners aren’t as rigid. Assembling windows is annoying, but storing them when out is the real failure on Ford’s part. I...
I love my steelies, and couldn’t agree more. I’ve looked for aftermarket options but will likely just find some Sasquatch takeoffs when these tires wear out.
Wow. Can’t believe i missed it before. Sure enough! @Nomadic i never have spotted rubbing on the crash bars, just assumed that was the rub. Sway bar, both sides- but if you’re not stuffing it at lock it shouldn’t rub. No wear marks on any crash bars.
Hadn’t considered it. I’ve only really heard it from the front left while turning right, but never could see any rubbing on the crash bar. Time to crawl underneath today.
I didn’t add spacers and only had the rubbing issues mentioned above. As far as I can tell spacers wouldn’t change anything for me. If you search Kendas in the forum there’s some others who run them without spacers
My lift (sorry forgot to include) is the Ford Performance 2” lift, which I...
I’ve run 35x10.5 Kendra Klevers for the last 15-20k and am very happy with look, noise, and traction.
Too lazy to remove crash bars, but they only have rubbed a couple times at full lock when pulling into steep driveways (and coming in hot). I’m sure if I disconnected the sway bar I’d need/want...
Wild that it’s sort-of quieter. My only complaint is the lack of a deeper exhaust, especially on the 4-banger like mine. Might go crazy with a hacksaw eventually.
How loud/drone-y is this in the cab? I did something very similar on my teenage diesel Jetta and couldn’t take it over 60 without vibrating the trim off, but I love short dumps like this.
