So I have had 3 jeeps .. and yes the solid axle is a beast but to be honest my rig with 35s on it drives like a super world class high performance racing tractor.. you give up a lot in daily drivability for the solid axle... and the bronco has achieved 90% of the articulation a stock rubicon...
Rubicon has electronic disconnect and it auto connects and discounts while engaged based upon speed disconnecting under 18miles an hour and reconnecting over 18 miles an hour. All other models of Jeep you have to get out and climb under your vehicle. The wrangler can not disconnect under load...
I agree and would add you can’t stand on the brake and the gas at the same time. Something I find myself doing on inclines or decline and to transfer from stop to power quickly to maneuver an obstacle. I also can drive stick but automatic is a significant advantage off-road.
so it just struck me they had this fleet of preproduction models out there wheeling probably all day long for a week.. and i didn't hear one report of a system failure at KOH.. that pretty encouraging
so I have never had a failure on my disco, but lots of reports of issues especially for guys who live in areas where they ford water and the disco get pretty wet, I am in California so a water crossing is a really Exciting big deal...
And I do agree the extra loose travel in bumps can be nice...

I was thinking that but if you had a jeep and got a spacer lift it would come with bump stops that limit it to.. and if you wanted to spend less than 2600 for wheels, tires, lift, shocks especially coilover shocks.. you would certainly have to go with a spacer lift.. so it's relatively the same...
For 90% of us, that is more important, than absolute maximum articulation. since most of the time we will be on roads, or intermediate trails. And with the 10" of articulation, 33-35" tires, and a solid 4 wheel drive system with the wheels making solid contact.. this thing stock is still going...
I think stock IFS is better.. the engineer does state that those that modify will have better performance. Because on the jeep the arms go back, and attach to the fram.. so putting longer ones on is very easy, as long as you maintain overal geometry. I am no engineer but with an IFS i believe it...
