I've opened the app and poked around, but not done much with it. I've used a few apps like this for my motorcycle, and none of them are "fantastic." Pretty much all of them were outright garbage when I first started using them; some have improved. Hell, the Garmin I have (and its software) is...
I wonder if the performance tune alters when the fans come on. I know that when we tune my bikes, we alter the ECU programming to turn the fans on at a lower temp. Motorcycles are vastly less complex, but it would be interesting to see if the Ford tune was altered to do that, or if that feature...
Awesome-sauce. You mention a drop-in upgrade. Does that mean we have to buy the regular taillight, and the module separately? Or will we just select "standard/signature" from a drop-down when ordering?
Eh, you don't need it. It's just nice to have. As good as you might think the vehicle is, a tuned vehicle pretty much always performs better (assuming it's not a crap tuner that worked on it). HP/tq is commonly what people look at when getting a tune, but smoothing out the shifts, throttle...
Everything can benefit from a skilled tuner assuming there is the capability to do so (ECU cracked, etc.); Lexus, BMW, Merc, Lambo, etc.
But yes, the most important thing is to enjoy your ride. I'll get the tune at some point, but I have some other stuff to get first!
If you think any vehicle rolls off the line with the best tune possible, I have a bridge to sell you.
Tuners exist for a reason, but there are several reasons why they wouldn't leave the factory with this. A few of the top reasons are below:
1. Octane requirements: Octanes matter. Can you run...
As other's have already stated, Eco mode's gas savings generally come from the alteration of shift points, and throttle response. Since this was explained, and people still seem to think it does nothing, perhaps some more elaboration would help.
The savings from the former, shift points, can be...
Experienced this yesterday. Drove through heavy, obscuring, rain and sleet. The wipers slowed down, and even though I couldn't see through the windshield, they still were only wiping ever 3-4 seconds.
If I clicked it back off that speed, and back on, it would resume the normal fast wipe for a...
