CarPlay is the best tech addition to cars in the last decade IMO, it takes something you're already familiar with and slaps it on your car's screen. You don't need to mess with the other CarPlay features but you'll get the most up-to-date traffic as opposed to factory Nav - Apple Maps, Google...

As @Theherofails stated in #2, if you're grounded you're not going to mess anything up while figuring out a light install. In general, try to never cut anything on the vehicle to get the wires to run where you want, there's normally an easier way. TESA tape and that piping is your friend!
I think those are the best looking mid-size truck that's out right now. Reviews off the Off-Road chops weren't as high as the Tacoma and Ranger but not everyone needs to rock crawl
