Yikes, that's no fun. I will say you can accomplish the same thing while driving if you hold the power button in the middle of the volume knob AND the track forward button at the same time for a few seconds. That'll force restart the center screen without having to stop and turn off the truck.

Tbh I've got some other problems too. I haven't gotten a software update in general since Jan 31 2023. Been using a VCX Nano but apparently people advise against that now. Not excited to pull the trigger on a Mongoose cable but seems like what's needed now.

The update stuff is so crazy to me. There should be an interface to request the update assuming all the required conditions are met. I haven't gotten one in over a year and don't feel like going to a dealership for it either.

Had a similar thought and asked back in 2022. They said since the VIN is accurate I'd be fine, but definitely a good reminder!
