It’s a tough call. The Bronco is a fun vehicle and the Tacoma can’t really match that. But it seems like the Tacoma better facilitates the fun stuff you drive to in your vehicle. So maybe that balances things out. 🤷
We picked up a 5th gen (2023) 4Runner TRD Off Road for my wife. So, this is the...
Based on the QC on the rest of my Bronco, I’m genuinely happy this option exists. That way, when my meticulously-maintained 2.3 pukes out at 117k miles, I can fork over a few thousand $ to breath life back into this [fun, capable, but ridiculously and shamefully junky] truck. 🤣 💩 🗑️
Meanwhile...
At 35,xxx miles knowing that it’s been back to the dealer umpteen times for warranty repairs and I’ll soon be on my own.
Loose body mount causing clunking sound
Missing firewall grommet
Detached rear window defroster wire
Loose front sway bar link
Broken driver seat recline lever
Rusted steel...
Your profile image makes a strong case for driving it with the stock tire size. But I didn’t do that either, because ground clearance is at a premium for those of us without the Sasquatch package.
If it was actually beautiful, it wouldn’t require that label.
Just like if AI were here to actually help you, the tech companies wouldn’t be dropping hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising space/air time to tell you how much it’s going to help you.

I installed a set of 255/85r16 Falken Wildpeak MT01 the day I picked up my base from the dealer.
The Falkens were great tires and safely took us across country (Detroit to Seattle and back last summer), through the wildest winter storm into Michigan’s upper peninsula this past winter, Silver...
The Falkens are truly great tires. Mine got a little loud at the 30k rotation but still had a good amount of tread. Just didn’t want to deal with the noise since we make a lot of weekend trips to Northern Michigan.
I switched to the 17” wheels because I’ve always liked them, and the base...
The Michigan Bronco Club hosts some fun events around the state including at Holly Oaks ORV park. Encourage you to attend one of these events to meet some folks but also to see how other Bronco trims/aftermarket parts impact capability. That’s assuming you plan to take your Bronco off road. But...
What really pisses me off (in addition to wondering about all the mistakes I’m NOT catching) is the amount of PTO/drive time to and from the service department.
Is the traction control discrepancy mostly a software issue? Would love a software update on my base with open diffs that is akin to the A-Trac on my wife’s 4Runner. That thing also has a rear locker but it’s moot in many scenarios because the A-Trac is so good.
With Trail Turn Assist on all...
Unpopular opinion (I guess… 🤷): I like TFL. It’s entertaining and informative. Agreed, they don’t always do the most apples-apples comparisons, but I’m sure it isn’t easy to get the cars together to make that happen. It seems like the video shared does a good job of showing how those...
Just had my front suspension apart this morning. Had to remove skids and crawl under as well. After two winters in Michigan, no rust other than a couple very superficial spots in the wheel well, in places that get a lot of direct road spray from tires. I’d imagine the rustproofing ends up...
