The Bronco has about the same size brakes as the Colorado. The Colorado is heavier and tows 7700lbs.
Negative. If you are not on throttle when you downshift it should slow the vehicle. It's called engine braking. None of my past vehicles surged forward, including FJ, and Rubicons.

You could also remove the original top for extra clearance to get the second top in there. Then reinstall the original top.

I had a 3" Heartthrob exhaust with 4 bullets on a 2011 Mustang 5.0 that was very painful on the inner ear, throbbing even. After 1k burn-in miles it became my favorite exhaust ever.
