  1. I feel like this is a lot of us right now

That's fair. I fully understand my use case is not common. Nothing on the market right now has the right combination of small size, high performance drivetrain, and rugged IFS suspension that'll survive being thrown over ruts and stuff at high speed. Nobody has made such a thing since my Pajero...
  2. I feel like this is a lot of us right now

Not quite true. From the press release, direct references to proving the capability of the Bronco. "As a test, the Bronco R will head back to the Baja Peninsula later this month to take on the near 1,000-mile grueling off-road course and challenge the production Bronco’s powertrain and...
  3. I feel like this is a lot of us right now

See, it's funny you mention that...that's exactly what I want. The Raptor is far too large for my usage. I want something with raptor-like capability in a smaller 2 door SUV body. That's exactly what I'm hoping for. I know a lot of you want a rock crawler wrangler competitor, so....let's hope...
  4. I feel like this is a lot of us right now

So it's interesting you mention that. ALL of the vehicles you mentioned (taking the second gen XTerra for this) were introduced around 2005-2006. Looking at sales figures, all of them were initially quite successful, the XTerra with a more established name actually matching jeep wrangler sales...
  5. With some design elements now known... Are you buying the Bronco?

Sorry, yes, that's exactly what I was trying to say...I realize my wording may have just confused it even more.
  6. I feel like this is a lot of us right now

I'd disagree with this. We are the enthusiasts that care about the technical details. We are a small subset of the people who buy these vehicles. I guarantee you that the majority of people who buy a wrangler don't buy it because it has a solid axle and scores well in RTI (they probably don't...
  7. Design: still too early but...

Likes: The extremely flared fenders look great. I really like the design of the hood with the fender corners and the raised section (are we calling it a power bulge?) Dislikes: Not a visual design feature, but straight pipes without a crossover tube sure make for a terrible sounding V6...
  8. With some design elements now known... Are you buying the Bronco?

I think by 'keep saving your money' he meant 'don't count out a manual and buy something else', not 'a manual isn't coming, save your money'
  9. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

Looking pretty good! I think the front wheel/tire needs to be a bit bigger, it looks like the back is larger than the front at the moment
  10. If it disappoints, what will you drive?

Offroad focused vehicles seem to hold their values very well in general. The Wrangler, Raptor, and 4Runner all are at the top of the best resale value lists. It's not unreasonable to expect that the Bronco will hold its value quite well unless the pricing is completely out of wack with what you...
  11. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

Bronco and the next Ranger are getting a new version of the T6 platform, my understanding is that it's an evolution of it but not a clean sheet design. Still called T6.
  12. Bronco Trim Levels & Models

Vette is a good example...except it's more that the Z06 won't be out until probably 2021 and then ZR1 maybe 2022. I'm planning to hold out for the Raptor version but I'm not expecting it to show up until probably end of 2021 or into 2022.
  13. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

Cool video, thanks for sharing. KOH is very interesting for sure - the mix of high speed and rock sections really does highlight that there are advantages and disadvantages of both setups, and obviously both can be made to work in either scenario or one would be dominating rather than there...
  14. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

Aw yeah. This is what I want. That looks awesome
  15. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

Agreed. 4 door bronco with some extra frame on the back to support the spare tire carrier thing is my best bet.
  16. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

The current Ranger Raptor is a Watt's link rear, not 5 link. This isn't the current ranger raptor. It's possible this is the next gen ranger raptor chassis, but I'm still inclined to believe it's a 4 door Bronco underneath.
  17. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

Nah, unfortunately not. They said it was the 10 speed auto in the Bronco R
  18. Bronco R Race Prototype Revealed for Baja 1000!

They offer a factory Torsen front diff in the IFS of the Raptor, no reason they couldn't do the same for the Bronco. I'd rather have a Torsen than a locker in the front for doing anything at any sort of speed, personally. My Pajero Evo has Torsens front and back and the traction in the snow is...
  19. With some design elements now known... Are you buying the Bronco?

It's been officially confirmed with the Bronco R that it will have a twin turbo ecoboost, and the only twin turbo engines Ford make are V6es. From the Bronco R press release: "even the twin turbos of the EcoBoost® engine are representative of what the production Bronco will offer"
  20. I feel like this is a lot of us right now

Desert racing trucks are almost entirely IFS when the class allows it, SFA would not be competitive at high levels. The international Rally Raid competitions also see only IFS vehicles win. That's the championship that includes the Dakar Rally, which is certainly a tough high level off road...
