Like most iOLM (intelligent oil life monitoring) systems it uses an algorithm taking data points from a number of sensors and operating conditions to determine when the oil should be changed.
Sounds like it should work well and in many cases it does, but I have seen more than once the iOLM say...
Agree to a point, but Ecoboost engines are Direct Injected so they are going to suffer from fuel dilution regardless and it will "always" be an issue. With that said, it also does not help the situation when a new owner waits 5K miles (or longer) to change the oil for the first time.
What would...
Here are some data points from the UOA that I did on the first oil change in my Wildtrak. This was 1,000 miles--ALL highway and not hammering it. I drive very conservatively for the first 1K miles to allow for a proper break-in.
In 1,000 miles the viscosity had dropped from a 5W-30 to an xW-20...
Ah, gotcha. Unless they changed the 8.8, there should be a pretty strong aftermarket for them.
The Dana 44 under the Bronco is the same as the Wrangler so there should be some options.
It is inferior from my point of view. It requires sealer that is messy to clean up.
The OEM gasket can be reused many times before replacement is needed with no cleanup.
Also, I could find no replacement for the gasket included with the cover which means back to the OEM at some point anyway.
I cancelled my order and am going with the Baja Designs 6XL Linkable Bumper Light System. I was going with BD for the lights anyway (on the ZRoadz bar) and really like the low profile of the bumper attached system. The bar mounted lights tend to block airflow and I did not want to have that...
Yeah, I had to play with the length of the tube a bit to find the sweet spot. I used regular quart bottles, and it was more difficult to squeeze them versus orientation.
Grab one of these for next time and it will be an easy and clean filling process. I cut about 6" off the tube and it made the job a snap.

I had BD on my Wrangler and even though they were the Sport models (XL on the cowl and standard on the light bar), these things would light up the night and made driving the backroads so much safer.
I cannot imagine how bright 6 of the XL models must be. Thanks for the information. I am...
I poked around a bit on the Baja Designs website, but was wondering, for the XL bumper light bar, were there options for the XL light shape? BD makes a round XL and a rounded corner square model (that you have). I wanted to go round to be symmetrical to the headlights.
On another note, how do...
Anyone using the ZRoadz LED light bar on their modular bumper and provide feedback on how well it is made and how it's holding up?
It appears to be well made, but wanted to see if it actually is.
Awesome sauce! The OEM gaskets are quite forgiving of subtle differences in the gasket face between the axle and the cover. The Wrangler has the same rear axle under it and uses the same gasket. I reused mine 10 times before replacing it and it was not leaking when I did.
Glad you were able to...
