Important distinction: Ford is planning on selling 200,000 'Bronco family vehicles'. That includes the ruggedized Escape aka Baby Bronco, which is probably expected to sell more volume than the BroncoBronco. Their target for BroncoBronco is probably <100k at least to start out with.
Essentially, yes. Prewired and fused blanks to make it easy to add accessories. Raptors come with them, I believe they are optional on superduties, and the Wrangler also has something similar now, though not with cool toggle switches:
My Pajero Evolution has been pretty reliable for a >100,000 mile vehicle. (it's left me stranded only once with a failed alternator) and so far I've been able to get all the parts to keep up with the maintenance. In the last couple years I've done wheel bearings, shocks, ball joints, the timing...
Yeah, honestly for just driving around town or on the highways I would probably never bother, something like a BFG KO2 has decent grip. But for driving quick on snowy/icy forest roads, or for something like the Alcan rally that goes up to Alaska, gotta have those studded Hakkas. To say nothing...
I have every intention of getting a set of dedicated, studded winters, yes. A lot of A/T tires have the mountain/snowflake rating and they are passable in the winter, but still nowhere near the grip of full on studded winters.
Yeah, heated (and ventilated) seats and heated wheel I'd like too, though that's more of a comfort thing. Block heaters are pretty well straight up required if you're leaving the vehicle outside much north of the border, and the other things will keep you from having to pull over and de-ice...
New topic time! (I'm not interested in talking about burgers and music choices)
Living in the frigid wasteland that is Canada, I'm hoping for a cold weather package for the Bronco as a factory option, to include:
-Block heater
-Windshield wiper de-icers
-Heated side mirrors
-Heated headlight...
I’m going to guess somewhere in the middle. I can’t imagine front and rear (and center?) diff locks on the base model, but I also assume they won’t be showing us the absolute top of their performance game yet
One key thing is on the Mitsubishi system, when not locked, you get a viscous limited slip center differential (sort of like what Subarus have all the time). I'll be curious what the center diff is on the Bronco when NOT locked. On the Raptor in 4A, it's sort of a clutch type LSD, hopefully it's...
Except in the Raptor, where you can have the rear diff locked at high speed if you're in the right mode. Hopefully the rear and center diff here will be the same way! Otherwise...I know what I'll be wiring my toggle switches to...overrides for the diffs.
Yeah I'm not quite sure what the difference between a RCSB Raptor and a 'Raptor R' would be...and even more not sure why they would make it. Again, it would be a very cool object but I wouldn't expect it to sell.
Could be. I was thinking that was terrain response mode select. If only this picture was a little clearer we'd be able to tell. It's too grainy to see the difference between 2H/4H and pictures of a Bronco next to a cactus.:
I'm guessing the transfer case knob may be on the other side of the steering wheel, or somewhere else not visible in the photo. A little annoying because that's one of the few features that will effect my purchase decision that I'm waiting on confirmation of.
We're certainly expecting a...
Ok, let's review what we know from NickP (assuming that his info is, in fact, correct. Remember last time we saw this mule several months ago his contact said it was not in any way Bronco related):
So, it's something related to both the Bronco in at least name, and more strongly to the...
Presumably the 6 on the roof are aux switches like a raptor. They’ll be fused and prewired to under the hood and in the passenger footwell but not hooked up to anything to make it easy to install accessories
The ones on the dash you can see pictures for some stuff like diff locks
That's sports car vs suv though. The corvette also had an impressive, though steadily declining manual take rate (I believe it was still 20% before the C8 came out without one). I wouldn't expect that the Bronco will have a significantly higher take rate compared to the wrangler, except maybe in...
Speaking from experience with my corvette which has the 'indexing' windows, when the battery is completely dead/disconnected it can't roll down, so you have to pull the door a bit harder and the glass slides out of the rubber upper trim. Not a huge deal
