Yeah, that's one of my favorite things for piece of mind with my C6 Z06, there's basically no steel on the car. Aluminum frame, suspension, and engine, magnesium subframe, CFRP body. There's nothing to rust on our salty Canadian roads!
I hope there is as much aluminum as possible. Ideally the whole body, but at the very least hood/doors/roof/fenders/swinggate. We really have no idea though, other than that there will be stampings for the Bronco happening at Dearborn, where the aluminum bits are made for other Ford vehicles...
You're correct, these boxes always check themselves regardless of your preferences it seems:
So if you don't remember to uncheck them every time...email city. It's annoying.
Also, that trending topics threads at the top of the forum now. Just makes for more clutter.
I have every intention of paying cash, or allowing the dealer to finance me and paying it off in the first couple months if that gets me a better deal.
I won't be trading anything in, ideally I'll be selling the Pajero privately first, then buying the Bronco. Profits from that plus what's in my...
Hello from Vancouver! Good to see some fellow Canadians.
Been posting on this forum long enough now that I've just started being referred to as 'the Canadian' in some threads as there haven't been many of us.
I feel like there's a pretty good chance that at least the wide track versions of the Bronco will have plastic flares of some from, judging from Ford's current high performance off-road offerings:
Personally I don't mind them, especially on the Ranger Raptor where they flow into the front...
I feel like if there was a ton of profit to be made by stocking more manual transmissions, they'd do it. It's probably more likely that they don't stock them anymore because they just end up sitting on the lot. I love manual transmissions, but the average consumer doesn't want one.
Everything we've heard from people with (supposedly) inside knowledge says that Ford isn't going to compete with the base model Wrangler, just the Sport S and up. Sport S 2 door starts at 32k, so I'd expect to see the base Bronco right there or maybe slightly less.
Awesome find. This is very promising. Even 442ft-lbs gives a lot more headroom for the ecoboost V6es. Plus, crawler gear on a 7 speed sounds perfect for the Bronco. Very exciting.
Yeah, they're definitely a bit more exposed. Not sure how the strength compares to the wrangler, but they look reasonably beefed up. Though, that's what I would expect if it's going to be supporting what looks like a whole coilover instead of just a shock like the wrangler or a pickup.
A lot of that is likely perspective, but I think this is indeed further indication that our 112" wheelbase estimate for the 4 door is correct. I'm guessing it'll be around 180" long for the 4 door, slightly shorter than a 4 door wrangler.
And this also confirms that it's definitely not 16 feet...
Not quite. Ford is planning on selling 200,000 'Bronco family vehicles'. That includes the ruggedized Escape aka Baby Bronco, which is probably expected to sell more volume than the BroncoBronco. Their target for BroncoBronco is likely well under 100k at least to start out with.
I think if I understand what you're saying it's basically that you just need to do exactly what your owner's manual says for maintenance and you'll be fine. No more, no less. If so, I agree. The manufacturer will tell you to use a certain kind of oil for a reason, but any aftermarket company...
If it was air assist in that the air suspension did not in any way effect the operation of a regular coil spring and only activated to increase spring rate when you needed to haul or tow, that would be fine. I'd still rather not have the extra weight of the compressor etc, but it would at least...
I think anything with an electronic parking brake and a manual transmission also has a hill hold assist as well to help with that, the vehicle will automatically prevent you from rolling backwards on hills.
I'd still rather have a manual handbrake, but I doubt we'll get one.
Yeah, I'm hoping that if this is there it's limited to some sort of luxury oriented trim. Air suspension doesn't have a great track record for reliability off-road and especially in cold weather.
Hand lever please! Far more useful than anything else
If we're in magical dream land I also want it to have a rear drive disconnect so you can do handbrake turns while in 4wd mode.
