Man, the logic on this is mind blowing. Mine is currently in for this *for the second time*, on the updated part, no less. They replaced this at 48k, under warranty as well, but are now claiming that that repair was a good faith repair that they did. Cue today and they want north of $650 to fix...
The clear's gone, it'll need a respray of that, and probably the underlying color as well.
I had the same problem with my wind deflector on my RCI rack. The rubber weather stripping was gathering dust like mad and just grinding it into the paint. Solved it with this:
