I believe there is a sensor in the door handle that is required as well. From what I can tell on my Focus. And that sensor is read by the body controller, so at the very least I think you need to add the sensor, possibly the wiring to it, and reprogram / reconfigure body controller.

IIRC your phone has to be connected to internet AND have cell service for that. Back in the good ole days my phone could be off and I could still text / call. Or I could be out of cell range but have wifi. Regardless, don't care to have google remove it on whim, so I'll just stick with VZW.
