Not that long ago - if you want to add the FRS channels though, you'll likely have to do some programming though. If you only need GMRS it's good out of the box.
I totally forgot to update this thread - Imogene Pass is now fully open from Ouray to Telluride! San MIguel County finished the repairs on their side faster than anticipated. (As of August 29th)
I can verify this is true myself as we went over it on August 31st. The trail was in great shape.
I'll have to double check my settings as well.. I get that whenever I use the system even if I'm driving completely straight (as frequently happens in the midwest).
This is the way to do it! Ignore all the YouTubers that turn on their lockers before they hit an obstacle.. You should only turn them on when you lose traction, and turn them off once you're moving.
Those Husky storage containers are awesome - they have a rubber gasket so they're waterproof/dustproof. I use them for all my camping gear and storage in the Bronco.
Not sure they're waterproof enough to float, but certainly enough to sit outside.
I haven't bent anything yet, but I do have a couple small gouges in the front side of the factory mounts right now. I tend to scrape there more than anywhere else, so figured I'd armor up and worry less.
Thank you!
I have also used the skids heavily on the fuel tank, good to know. I was just underneath it touching up the scrapes with bed liner, but I'll have to get underneath again and check out the mounts to see how they look.
I'm probably not calling them the correct thing - these are the skids I bought. https://barnes4wd.com/products/ford-bronco-rear-frame-lower-control-arm-skid-plates
Nope, you got the right spot - I'm asking about the rear upper control arm skids. I did buy the lowers too but those look like they'll go on easy.
I did find a couple other threads but they all talked about having to disconnect fuel lines from the top of the tank - I'm hoping to just shift it...
Hi all,
I just picked up a set of the Barnes 4WD rear (edit - upper) control arm skids. I was thinking they'd be a simple bolt-in install, but step #2 in the instructions is "remove the fuel tank". 🤯
I searched and only found a couple people talk about this before. I am thinking that I can...
Have you driven one with the 2.3?
I drove a 2.7 at the Off-Roadeo and couldn't really tell the difference, even at WOT. My 2.3 Bronco is easily the fastest thing I've ever driven, super pleased with the power. (Full disclosure that I've never had a "fast" car like a Mustang or anything)
Good find. I wonder if that damage was exacerbated by using the load balancing hitch on rough roads. It looks like the hitch was way over specced for that trailer, since it was bending the frame.
Possibly too much speed too - on roads like that I'm in 4H with the sway bar disconnected (for...
One of the things I've struggled with is there are almost no real world reviews of people using these smaller campers. I did find this guy who has three videos about the Sunray 149. I think in the first video he talks about coming down a rough road in 4-Low for a few hours and the camper did...
I looked at this one, but the minuscule 5 gallon black tank made it a no-go for me.
Edit: Actually it's a cassette toilet, which makes things a bit easier actually. Those can be dumped into pit toilets, outhouses, etc. I'm going to revisit this one.
Thanks for posting this, I've been a bit rv-curious lately and have been looking into this exact model. Like you, I want to boondock but with the option of a toilet and occasional military shower.
There's very few campers in the weight range that meet those requirements. I also really want a...
Unlikely to happen but I would love a one piece body color hardtop with lots of insulation for sound deadening. It can still be removable but eliminates most of the issues I have with the MIC top.
I have heard that Blue Ribbon Coalition is in bed with Mike Lee, the guy who authored the huge public land selloff provision in the BBB. That's why they didn't come out and aggressively oppose it. Not sure I am going to send them any more money.
Can anyone recommend some better groups to support?
