This hits the nail on the head. Live life for today- you are not promised tomorrow.
I bought a New '23 Raptor un March of '24 for about $7k under MSRP- not a great deal by todays standards, but I have no regrets.
We lost my brother in law about a year prior at 35 who left behind a widow and...
I have the blue leather- I was concerned that when i saw them they would look bad or cheap... I get alot of compliments on them.
Without question to me- I had to have power adjust and heated seats. I have grown accustomed to these creature comforts. To get that- leather was required. I think...
I love your build and in the right environment, I bet it kills it off-road. I have a '70 Bronco mostly tube buggy on tons and 43" tires. For East Coast beat downs, I would prefer the solid axle. It doesnt mean your direction is wrong.
I love the effort and ingenuity.
Both my '75 and my '70...
Why modify any car... because it's mine and I want it to fit me. Maybe my needs, maybe my personality, maybe just how I want it to look. This car is certainly as overbuilt for the road as a daily- it was built to withstand abuse in Baja. A very low % of people with a Raptor are really going...
Details?
I have:
1.5" Spacers Installed (stay with stock wheels at this time)
ProCal installed (for power)
2.5" FMI spacers on hand.
Probably need an adjustable rear trackbar or trackbar bracket.
Seems like this is all I would need for 39-40" tires. What am I missing?
I love your rig- well planned and built. The thoughts of a solid axle swapped 6th Gen would be cool, but the computer would be a nightmare. The huge Raptor flares make the '37' BFG AT look small and they are narrow. Im afraid a 40 will just look like its riding on balloons as they will be...
Sorry- my comment wasn't clear. The Warn/Ford winch mount design has a robust reinforcement of the frame horns. Clearly they knew it was a very weak location to put such a high load. The bent horns have been with bumpers and mounts without any reinforcement.
First- thank you for all the responses. there is alot to think about so far... seemingly mostly against the 40s. Please keep the comments coming- I'm weighing them all
Extreme rock crawling needs much deeper (lower) gears. my buggy has dual cases with 7.5:1 and 5.38s turning 43s- just the...
While the progressive rate design offers preferred ride characteristics, if designed correctly, either progressive or linear rates coils should have no issues with ride height or sagging. This just seems like improper design...
I love innovation and always liked the idea of a removable winch. Warn had a solution for this with their receiver mounted cradle- with steel cable, it was a bear to move for one person, and I have seen more than one fail.
With that said- two items occur to me- not to disparage the product...
39 BFGs are undersized (as are the 37s) so I can see a better fit than the truer to size 40s. But asking $700-750 a tire is a little crazy to me and I can’t stand the BFG AT- I’ve run them on a few vehicles I’ve owned and don’t like them.
I am definitely talking Raptor which has a Dana 50 rear...
I've had my '23 HPR Raptor Since March of this year and love it. I have put nearly 20k miles on it, mostly for fun or a few family trips. I daily drive it even though I have another vehicle.
I have a purpose built Rock Crawler, so this is much more a street vehicle with occasional dirt...
Anecdotally... I watched old Willys Jeeps in Maine on pizza cutters from stock to the 34x9.5 wide and stock-ish suspensions with open differentials. They would claw thru the mud to get to more firm ground (rock) and just never seemed to get stuck.
Conversely, I lived in Louisiana where narrow...
I went with Baja Designs (BD) lights in an aftermarket bumper and love them. A vendor here has a kit that will swap onto the stock bumper with BD or several other brands. You have to pull the whole stock assembly with lights and enclosures.
I have seen these on a Bronco in person and they appear durable. My concern- there is alot of areas that aren't covered, like the leading edge of the front fender.
Was there a reason for this in the design? I would be afraid there could be obvious deep scratches just in those areas when you...
I also have this on my Raptor and plan to do what you note above. It clips on and has some doubles sided tape which was not up to the job. 6 sheetmetal screws or nutserts/bolts should do well.
