I also did this and had to move stateside and Ford was more than willing to void the contract so I could import it.
I think for the most part, dealers are just preventing the flip and if you encounter a legitimate reason to have the need, they work with you.

Fixed the squeak on the window, only to now be able to hear the dreaded clicking/tapping noise. It sounds like a loose rivet or a cracked weld to me. No idea on the tailgate build, but it certainly sounds like a metal to metal connection has failed.
