Best thing you could do is test drive one if possible. There are a couple ways to reduce road noise with weatherstripping and whatnot if it's not quiet enough for you.
I think Ford also has their own solution/replacement part for this, or at least I remember seeing them posted on here before. Sorry I don't have the part numbers or more details, but hopefully someone else does

Do you turn on your Bronco before your door is closed? When my doors are open and I turn it on, they go up for a second then come back down. Maybe you're closing it when that's happening and then it stays up since it engaged the latch
Is your window rolling up to the "closed" position when your door is opened? Might be a different issue if that's the case. Have you tried taking it in for the DDM/PDM updates?

I don't think there's a coating but duct tape can leave a residue that can be annoying to take off and possibly cause some damage. Why not use double sided tape to hold the cardboard to the windows?

Try adjusting your window using the bolts on the bottom/sides of the door (under the rubber plugs)
There are some instructions somewhere on the forums but I'm not able to look for it right now
