Have been running them on my 2 door for about 10,000 miles now.

I've run it like this before around town with a kayak or lumber poking out the back. Or just on a nice day so the dog can look out. No bungee and it seems to do just fine. I'd feel less comfortable on the highway like this or on bumpy off-road conditions.

"Need" is totally subjective here. The engine will probably go 150,000+ miles with or without one. Some people have identified the benefits and think they are worth adding them. There are many articles online that discuss turbo motors and catch cans and it goes beyond just the engine valves.

The 2.7 probably does not "need" them. People add them to separate the crankcase oil from the air that enters the engine.

Whoah! As an enthusiast I really think some of these ideas are worth entertaining... but as an enthusiast I know we can be hard to accommodate by big corporate. Problem is garage space... I would have a hard time keeping the money in my pocket if some of these ideas made their way into reality...

Mine was making this same noise. It's coming from the passenger side PCV. I don't think this is anything to be concerned about.
