I would recommend getting the kit with the sub wiring. I started with key only, then quickly decided it needs a sub. Called PlugNPlay and they helped me with the additional cables to add the sub after the fact. Worked well, but would have been much easier just to get it originally.

Yes, but I would think you would also want to run a new ground as well. The cables on the adapter are doubled up wires for both power and ground. Bottom line, just like all harnesses, makes things a bit easier to connect.

My gains are at the minimum. Before adding power adapter direct to battery, clipped around 16-19 depending on the music, after power adapter clips around 20-23.
