  1. The Boreal Badlands

I’m amused your design priority was fitting two enclosed subwoofers. But it certainly makes a nice stand for the repurposed JCR!
  2. 60k mile fluids change - results & observations

Whoops thx for the reminder! Aside from oil every 5k, I’ve changed no fluids. Bronco 2.7 autoT is at 45k miles and perhaps 2k offroad.
  3. Relays mounted to fuse box cover

Thanks, I understand. I also understand being bored and doing stuff!!
  4. Relays mounted to fuse box cover

I understand installing this if you need more power draw than the OEM wires safely support. But what’s the reason to replicate the OEM upfitter setup for the other relays? Is it primarily to be consistent and have a clean wiring hub? I bought the WeatherPak extender/connector set from SPV that...
  5. Single tire needed replacement. Put back into rotation or keep as spare?

Thanks for the United Tire validation. I tore a sidewall this weekend. Had to cut the trip short as a result. Found United Tires on eBay and bought a KO2 with similar tread wear for $70. Hope it works! It’s E rated but the other 4 are C rated. But shouldn’t matter as a spare with similar tread...
  6. Just added Bilstein 8112’s

Did Shock Surplus try to sell you on new UCAs? Are you running OEM UCAs? Looks like yes from your photos
  7. Public land sale

The cost to build solar farms higher gets exponential in cost and engineering complexity (mainly wind sheer). So it’s not cost effective, even before the solar rebates were cancelled. I’m actually working with a friend on mobile solar arrays for agricultural land. Most of the big solar farm...
  8. Just added Bilstein 8112’s

Oh yeah I remember the F load now. But the weight difference wasn’t as great as I expected. Not sure about onroad ride harshness though. On my C KO2 33s at 44k miles, and about 1200 miles off road, I have many sidewalk gashes and one slow leak. Time for new tires.
  9. Just added Bilstein 8112’s

What size do you want? Thought they already have 35s
  10. Propane mount location ideas.

Thx for the details. Yeah I understand. Resistive heating sucks power. Tested an electric kettle for hot water but quickly ditched that idea. Still carry a tiny backpacking stove + 1.5 liter pot as a result. But the electric griddle… hmm. Not as worried about power drain as I generally don’t...
  11. Propane mount location ideas.

That Blackstone electric griddle is very enticing. You like using it? I assume you ditched the propane because you were already lugging around a battery?
  12. From Wrangler to Bronco

My 2000 Miata is my rowdy ass go kart! The 2023 Bronco is my daily but also has well over 1k miles offroad and 45k total. Including some crawling (not a lot but some). Love this thing. Very minor issues so far. The OEM bash plates are actually very good assuming you don’t pound on them all day...
  13. What I hate about my Bronco, you? (edit) Or maybe I should have called it "What would you want if you were designing it"

I’m generally connected by USB cable. Gotta keep the phone charged! What I mean by glitch is CarPlay will completely crash/disconnect. Sometimes it auto re-connects. Sometimes not and I gotta actually stop the car, open the door, and then re-start the car. Generally when this happens it will...
  14. What I hate about my Bronco, you? (edit) Or maybe I should have called it "What would you want if you were designing it"

Yeah the only thing I really hate is the electric parking brake and the switch placement. I just want a handle to pull up or a foot pedal to push. And a manual brake. When sync + CarPlay glitches (normally on long drives) I hate it at the time. But the only CarPlay vehicle I’ve had that worked...
  15. [EDIT:] Ford won't reimburse me for my recalled rear shocks.

I went in for oil change. I hadn’t noticed the leak. They brought it to my attention and replaced it. Had the parts on hand. my dealer has been 100% awesome so far. Replaced 3 seatbelts and the tailgate strut. Let me crawl around under the lift looking for trail damage during oil changes. Love...
  16. [EDIT:] Ford won't reimburse me for my recalled rear shocks.

My dealer replaced mine with the leaking reservoir. I didn’t even ask. This was in October 2024.

    Bay Area Broncos

Join the Bronco groups on Facebook (Bay Area, Central Coast and Gold Country). That where most of the event action takes place. (It’s the one thing that pulled me back into Facebook…) If you’re new to off-roading I also recommend The Driving Company, based out of Hollister Hills. All ex law...
  18. Seat belt not retracting

I’ve had my front driver replaced twice and passenger once. Under warranty. They do get dirty when off-roading. But my dealer is easy to work with.
  19. Wild ride off cliff... I hadn't seen this one before.

Indeed the soft top windsail saved the day!
  20. Summer Vacation to California's North Coast and More!

Great trip. There’s an offroad route in/out of Yosemite on the Old Coulterville Rd (one of the original roads into Yosemite). It passes through Foresta, a small community of private homes inside the park. Did you get ice cream @ The Bank in Guernville? Good spot. And Rio Nido just down the road...
