That hitch rack looks great.
For years I drove around with my Thule hitch bike rack with 4 bikes watching it wobble back and forth in my rearview. I’m not sure if these clamps existed then but they are a game changer. Several options on Amazon - the one below is the expensive option:
Regarding hitch racks and wobble - I borrowed a hitch platform for a ski trip last weekend and it wobbled like crazy on my short trip home after I picked it up. I bought a hitch extended and clamp and once the clamp was on there was almost zero wobble.
Pics below - the blue clamp holds the...
Next on my list for my OBX is new tires. I’ve been following all these threads and have been looking at 275/70/18 and now 265/65/18. My question is why anyplace I check prices where the have the “see if these fit your vehicle” checker always says these size tires won’t fit my Bronco?
I see lots of comments about the top not folding all the way back/down. As someone coming from a 4 door wrangler I have to say that I normally leave it with the front section flipped back and the back and side windows off. I don’t think I folded the top all the way back once all summer last...
I went through an extensive search to find a dealer mannequin without ADM before I bought my OBX in Dec and I've posted a few of the stories here in other threads. One of the dealers I spoke with in VA had 2dr OBX similar to what I was looking for with no price listed so I called and spoke with...
I’m away this weekend skiing with our 2dr. I looked at a bunch of different options for ski transport for the 4 of us. I did not use this option but both Thule and Yakima have racks to convert hitch mounted bike racks to ski racks. The Thule one is over $500 but the Yakima is more reasonable...
Update and pics from our 4 person trek from NY to VT today in our 2dr OBX - just under 5 hours with a few short stops.
My sons are older - 20 & 23 and large. There was ~475 lbs worth of human in the back seats and they didn’t complain once. They said it wasn’t the most comfortable ride...
There is another thread about this right now as well. You will need several different Torx+ bits and at least 1 standard Torx (that was supplied with my kit). The various size bits are listed in that thread. I purchased a Torx+ 40 for my modular bumper and it worked.
In that thread they are...
There are usually several sets listed for sale here in the member marketplace. Prices listed now range from $2,000 - $2,500. I don’t know what they actually end up selling for but that seems like the range since I joined in Dec.
I’m having trouble with adding links here so will ad a pic below. I only bought the one - it sounds like I need more from the other posts.
I knew nothing torx, torx+ or TP torx bits. I figured I’ve got screws all over this Bronco, Ford provided a nice looking tool kit with all the bits, the...
I am attempting a ski trip to Vermont (from NY) this week for our family of 4 in our 2dr -just under 5 hours each way. I have the Yakima platform on top where I’m going to attach our skis on one side with a Thule roof box on the other side which will have all our bags. I borrowed a trailer...
I have been a dual top Jeep owner for around 4 years now and my son has taken that and I have a 2dr hardtop bronco. We run the soft top on the Jeep from very early spring to November (this past year) but for any cold weather states I can’t see using it year round. There is no rear wiper and no...
Agree on the tire options. OP listed the 18” wheels as one of the nice to haves on the OBX - I actually see that wheel/tire combo as a downside (I think I will eventually buy 275/70/18 tires for mine).
One additional note - the tires are the worst part of the OBX (in my opinion). But you can get the OBX and upgrade the tires at some point if you find you are off-road more than you thought or you just want to change the look.
Just so you get some OBX perspective, I have the 2dr OBX and I love it. I had no interest in a stick shift, no interest in cloth seats, no interest in the most basic of wheels (like the one in the eBay listing). My OBX has enough to be nice inside but still has manual seats - which at the...
I have the factory roof rack on my two door. The cross bars are just under 3 inches wide. I didn’t do the height - it’s not much - maybe a half inch.
The side rails are three inches wide and 2 inches high. It’s not square on top. It tapers a bit towards the inside.
