I thought that was the issue but when i buckle first it doesn't change anything. I even thought maybe it needed to load so I would press the ignition without my foot on the brake to turn in the screen and let it load. Nope, no difference.

I have the On Board Harness that holds your doors in place. You will need the bags as well. Harness is sold online for about $600, if you can find one available. Asking $350 for the harness. (could also sell the bags but they are available online)

I hate to tell you this but I think your friend got taken advantage of. Those seem like garage storage bags not on-vehicle storage. There would be a harness and I believe only the 4 door can have OVS because the door can't fit in the back of the 2 door. I hope I'm wrong about this.
