I do rock crawling with my FJ and still have my mud flaps, nothing thorn off...They fold and get pinched and squeezed, and stay there.

Going to blow your mind...Toyotas come with mud flaps....

Beside leaving it in your driveway or garage and not driving it, nothing much. The windshield angle is about the same as the FJ Cruiser, so from experience, get ready to live with the chips/cracks or to change windshield often...
