75 series tires are going to mostly be E rated. Those will be better for puncture resistance but they will ride like rocks. So that is a big negative for the 16s. Unless you will be doing a lot off off roaring where puncture protection is a high priority.
The 17“ wheels will give much more...
Back on the road. Didn’t want to leave ID but have to head to more sights.
I’ll spare Yellowstone pics. Many more people have taken many more pictures way better than I could. Also. We took hundreds driving the north rim and I couldn’t possibly pic just a few to share.
after leaving...
Since this is more of a road trip journal here are some more ID pics. Man that state is beautiful. And I didn’t see a single potato farm.
Hit lake pend for some sight seeing on a small uninhabited island
And some boating lessons.
after A day on the beach we hit the water again for an...
Thanks for the tip. I did look into that one but the 16 year old minimum age was a non starter. We are going to the Wyoming dinosaur center in Thermopiles WY and doing a one day dig.
hoping to hit the near by off road park while there as bonus for me.
Today I awoke to see I had a new bronco model. It was a base. Then I put black diamond wheels/tires on it. This must have turned it into a retro model judging by the script font.
No bronco fun today. Went to a local beach on a lake to chill out and play in sand. And then did some...
After some more silly pics to send to mom we headed down. Had to stop and check out the bear grass flowers.
we did find some legit off road trails cut in off the fire road. Did a 26 deg climb with loose terrain as easily as a minivan climbs a mall speed bump (sorry no pics of that fun). I was...
Made it to ID. A near 35 hours in when we arrived at a good friends house in sand point.
yesterday with the help of that friend we hit some fire roads and found snow. A fight followed and my child’s faith in her dad restored
and snow angles. More like ice angels.

Enough kid pics. Here...
Glacier was a bit of a bust since sun road was not open yet. The main point of glacier was to have a snow ball fight in June. I got a fail for this day. Still did a little hiking and saw some cool water falls. Deciding to get an early start to Idaho. These sights put a smile back on my...
So MPG talk time.
I’m pretty happy.
70 zones were 23.x and one tank at 24.0
75 zones were 21.x
80 zones were a little painful at low 19s.
I kept a pretty strict 4-5 mph over the posted limit
And for giggles. Couldn’t help taking this water park “mall” picture on our first way point of...
Yea I saw glacier is pretty limited. But we got here early enough in the season it isn’t an issue. Heck we even got a room with no reservations since my daughter did a 180 on the idea of camping after she saw the bear warning signs.
On our way I got some unplanned gravel time. MT takes the...
Left Ohio this morning for a round trip whirlwind tour of the west and as many national parks we can hit in two weeks. And as the title implies we will be searching for dinos on week two. My hopes are to hit some dirt here and there on our way.
loaded and ready to go!
Third state line and...
Anyone who has done a change already on a 2.3 I’ll give you one guess where my head was when I loosened the filter!
For those that have not. I saw there was a drain under the filter. I didn’t see where that drain went. Figured it went straight down to give the subframe and bushings some...
Couple hundred miles of highway today. No effect to mpg at all with the cruise set at 75. Got 23.3 mpg with my old 16” tires and 23.0 with the BD assemblies.
color me happy!
todd looking good in blue.
I did not recalibrate yet. It is a 6% increase in diameter. Calculation is straight forward. Take mpg time 1.06. So far, just one day, it is about 1 mpg less. I went from 24 to 23 mpg on my daily commute taking the correction factor into account.
I have a 450 mile highway trip this...
Ha. How did you know I had 40psi in them! Judging my the shoulder wear on the old tires I’ll need to go up in pressure. Not down. Max lat G is the only way to drive.
in a few more days I’ll be searching for some malls in glacier natl park. Northern ID. Yellowstone. And badlands. Two...
I’m sure this has been shown before. But maybe not on a green two door. I got a base two door and am fine with the equipped wheels and tires. However a trip out west in a few days plus the crazy cheap take offs available I couldn’t resist a step up in mall crawling manliness.
it has only...
Finally got warm enough to give this a try without fear of breaking clips.
super easy. Pull back on the rear cover as described by fatrat.
no bolts or tools needed. Just slide the axle out and then reinstall the back cover.
pictured with axle nearly all the way removed and lit still in...
