The problem with answers from Mike is that they are at best vague and at worst flat out wrong.

Work your way up to it. Find a friend with experience to go with and maybe look into a local off roading club that yoiu can go on trips with. You don't want to go alone and end up needing help.
I'm at the western edge of the Las Vegas valley. There are dozens of trails no more than a 10-15 minute drive from my house. Iplan to be on one as often as possible. There is a trail from the Nellis Dunes to St. George Utah that I plan on doing as one of my first trips.
Your first pic doesn't look remotely fun to me at all. I can't stand doing the giant group trail thing. Always go with a buddy, but for me 5 vehicles is the max.
There is a bit about Gaugin scattered throughout this thread.
Short version is; My original reservation was with them. They ignored me for two months. Wouldn't return my calls or emails. Finally spoke to someone in Sept. It didn't go well and he hung up on me. So I switched dealers.
Why? Mostly because Ford Country sucks. If you want to stay local, try Team Ford. They were the most helpful for me. There are no deals to be had in Vegas, Team Ford is at MSRP. Guys in the Vegas thread have good luck with Rich.
I was a little irritated that my order confirmation was pushing me to get a membership at Bronco Nation. I think they should be giving at least a free year of membership with a converted order. I'm certainly not going to pay to have them advertise to me.
