Yes that seems needed as the rust-prone brackets are a clear weak point. Aluminum or stainless (or even plastic) would be an improvement, and save Oracle a lot in warrantee claims, and negative product reviews. But again, in my experience, their customer service was good and I got a replacement...

when Oracle sent me a replacement set (which seemed identical to the ones that had rusted), I took them apart, sanded, primed, painted, and poly sprayed them). It's been a year now and they still look new.
