We could be two dumb pea’s in a pod. But that was really my thought, I have a great credit union offering solid rates and I figured rather than spend 4 months pouring extra cash into the current loan that could be going into other assets. Come out of things with a new raptor and nearly the same...
I addressed some of these in a separate post. But I will say my hobbies bring me nothing but joy. I’m about as low stress as a fella can get.
We do have a budget, and a lot of money goes towards other positive things. I am just now addressing the Bronco at the back end. It’s likely I will pour...
I’m afraid I haven’t painted quite the clearest picture. I have no problem with the payment, and have no problem making extra payments. I just have prioritized other things in the last three years. Finishing 1 mortgage, paying off my boat, and making home improvements to our primary home and...
I’ve been incredibly lucky to live a pretty amazing life up to this point, and have definitely gotten more than my fair share of experiences. I do really this this an important though. I’ve watched a lot of family member work into their 60/70’s just to be too tired/old to do the things the...
I understand your point about insecurity. I agree that any number of things can happens from illness to divorce to lawsuits, etc…
I will say all things considered we are still in a very good position all those things considered. We have phenomenal employers with many contingencies in place for...
One of us wasn’t in the picture financially so it’s definitely not on her. My degree is in wildlife biology so that’s not a field notorious for making smart financial decisions lol.
We have an army of bird dogs (we won’t get on the topic of the financial downfalls of being addicted to hunting). Keeping them contained is monumental task😂
I appreciate both of your suggestions, and would argue it’s what I’m in route to. I may be a few years behind on borrowing age. However we own one house outright, and our other home is rented out. Three degrees between us with zero school debt, and I have 1 retirement and have just started my...
I bought my first vehicle cash and it died a few years later. Rather than tell me to try to fix it or save up for another, my folks told me to go buy a car from a car lot. They also told me to never use credit cards for anything. You can see that not all people are provided with the same sage...
Hey man, some people grow up poor with a lot of bad role models. I am the most financially secure and stable of anyone in my entire extended family. Lessons take time to learn.
By all means if you own your tremor, Bronco, and house outright I’d love to hear how you did it.
I appreciate this advice! Your second paragraph and second to last paragraph definitely resonate with my life. That’s the entire reason I asked here. I’ve made some huge improvements in recent years and struck some serious luck. The interest rate on my current bronco is the last bit of earlier...
Some things just took priority. While it hurts to lose money with the loan, the payment is a non issue. Keeping our dogs in the yard and fixing some other major issues for both comfort and long term rental of our home have taken priority.
None taken! Like I’ve said my life has changed a lot in the last 3-4 years. I used to really enjoy toys and living like I wasn’t planning on making it past 50.
That’s fair, I don’t blame you for thinking that either lol. Like I said, life circumstances have changed significantly in the last 3-4 years. I had a boat loan and personal loan on a side by side when I bought the Bronco and my income was over half of what it currently is.
My wife and I both make $135k. I just had very poor credit three years ago because my only credit history was mortgage and vehicles and no revolving credit. So we are incredibly comfy. We just prefer to pump money into savings and home projects. We just paid $18k for a fence, so like I said we...
